Van Elle Holdings PLC - Group Services Director Michael Mason sells 4.2 million shares at 50 pence each, worth GBP2.1 million, in a placing run by Peel Hunt. Following sale, representing a 5.2% stake in the geotechnical engineering firm, Mason has no Van Elle shares.

Diageo PLC - Samuel Fischer, managing director of Greater China, South East Asia and Asia Pacific, sells 30,000 shares at average GBP31.39, worth GBP941,700, on Wednesday.

Micro Focus International PLC - Non-Executive Chairman Designate Greg Lock and wife Rosemary Lock buy 184,300 shares at average price of 787.66p, worth GBP1.5 million. Lock, who takes the software company's chair on Friday next week, now holds 200,000 shares. Earlier this month, Micro Focus said Kevin Loosemore would step down as chair after 15 years, replaced by Lock, a former chair of Computacenter PLC.
