Weatherly gets copper boost in Namibia

Thu, 01st Sep 2011 08:58
AIM-listed mining company Weatherly International says testing at its Tsumeb site in Namibia has revealed enough minerals to potentially make the site commercially viable.Following test drilling of 109 holes in a 75 metre square area, Weatherly's chief executive officer Rod Webster commented: "I am very happy with the results, particularly the metal grades, which, at today's prices, represent a copper equivalent of over 1%. This is higher than many of the world's existing copper mines, even when you take lower recoveries into account."More testing on the samples will take place in Perth but the firm's current thinking is to build a new plant on the existing Weatherly site, to take full advantage of the existing infrastructure, power and water supplies. Shares in Weatherley rose 3.2% in early trading.BS
