OSLO, Nov 26 (Reuters) - The planned escalation of an
ongoing strike by Norwegian security guards could shut down
Norway's Nyhamna gas processing plant and two gas fields on
Saturday, hitting some of the country's gas exports, an industry
group said on Thursday.
"Nyhamna closes on Saturday if the strike (escalation) goes
ahead. Ormen Lange and Aasta Hansteen (gas fields) will also
shut down then, affecting gas exports," a spokesman for the
Norwegian Oil and Gas Association (NOG) said in an email.
Close to 2,300 security guards organised by the Norwegian
Union of General Workers (NAF) are currently on strike over pay,
and an additional 85 will go on strike from Saturday onwards
unless the dispute is resolved in the meantime.
The NAF confirmed that security guards working at Nyhamna
are among those who will join the strike this weekend, but
declined to say how many.
