HOUSTON, March 11 (Reuters) - Motiva Enterprises has shut the 45,000 barrel per day (bpd) hydrocracking unit atits 235,000 bpd Convent, Louisiana, refinery and has started aplanned overhaul, sources familiar with plant operations said onWednesday.
The HCU, called the heavy oil cracker or H-Oil unit, wasshut briefly over the weekend. Production was partially restoredby Monday, but Motiva decided to shut down the unit and begin anoverhaul that had been scheduled to start late this month.
The overhaul is expected to take at least 40 days tocomplete.
Motiva is a 50-50 joint venture between Royal Dutch ShellPlc and Saudi Aramco. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Cynthia Osterman)
