NEW YORK, Jan 1 (Reuters) - European blue-chip stocks Nestle, Royal Dutch Shell, Novartis andUnilever are expected to be among the bestincome-producing stocks of 2017, Barron's said in a report.
Many European companies offering dividends finished in thered, hurt by the rise in the U.S. dollar, Barron's said, notingthat valuations have gotten more reasonable and dividend yieldshave grown.
The European companies were listed as part of Barron'sannual list of best income ideas, which this year looked at 10different sectors, including electric utilities, master-limitedpartnerships and municipal bonds.
In the U.S. market, electric utilities such as Duke EnergyCorp and real estate investment trusts (REITs) includingSimon Property Group offer good income-generatingopportunities in 2017, Barron's reported. Utility Sempra Energy and REITs Boston Properties and EquityResidential also made the Barron's list.
Treasuries, telecoms and master-limited partnerships areless appealing, Barron's said. (Reporting By Jarrett Renshaw)
