This is through the treatment's modulation of the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. The study was undertaken by Israeli contract research organisation, Science in Action. Results support previous findings from a 2020 study into Covid-19, which showed CimetrA modulates the body's production of cytokines, which can lead to a cytokine storm, a type of severe immune reaction. New results support the potential of CimetrA to have a wider-ranging application as anti-inflammatory treatment, beyond the treatment of Covid-19 symptoms.

The company says the study, undertaken on 30 biopsy samples from 18 patients over a period of three years, sought to determine the optimal formulation for the treatment of Glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer. The study showed that MGC Pharma's proprietary formulations were cytotoxic to Glioblastoma tumour and stem cells, reducing the cells' viability and inducing caspase-dependent cell apoptosis, or cell death.
