Financials and property companies led the way down today. Lloyds Banking Group and Royal Bank of Scotland are two of the banks that could be hardest hit by Dubai's financial problems. Lloyds is also in the midst of a massive £13.5bn rights issue. Investors are being offered 1.34 new shares for every share held at 37p each. The latest application date is 11 December. Cairn Energy is acquiring Dyas BV's 9.99% interest in Capricorn, Cairn's exploration subsidiary, for $95m in shares and cash. Cairn will own 100% of Capricorn. Cairn will issue 1.8m shares and pay around $40m (£24m) in cash. Cairn will also assign 15% of its exploration interests in Tunisia and Albania, also held by Capricorn, to Dyas. The original intention was that Capricorn would demerge from Cairn but the demerger is not going ahead and that is why Dyas is selling.
