LiDCO Says Positive Study Using Its Device Accepted For Publication

Wed, 30th Jul 2014 11:17

LONDON (Alliance News) - LiDCO Group PLC said Wednesday that a study using its LiDCOplus device showing a reduction in incidents of acute kidney injury has been accepted for publication in the next edition of the Journal of Critical Care.

The study evaluated 123 surgery patients who had received post-operative goal-directed therapy using the LiDCOplus monitoring equipment, compared to 141 patients who had standard post-operative monitoring.

The incidence of acute kidney injury was reduced in the goal-directed therapy group, with a total of 8 patients exhibiting acute kidney injury compared to 28 in the other group.

"The study clearly shows that avoidance of kidney compromise through using the LiDCO's fluid monitoring technology overseen by the ICU nursing team can reduce the incidence of post-operative AKI by 70%, which represents a significant saving to the [UK National Health Service] and improves patient outcomes," said Chief Executive Terry O'Brien in a statement.

Shares in LiDCO last traded flat at 17.00 pence Wednesday.
