Home improvement retailer Kingfisher is on Thursday expected to report a seven per cent increase in third quarter profit of 279m pounds, reflection improved UK weather and a currency tailwind, according to Numis.The broker said B&Q, the company's DIY and garden centre arm, would have responded to the heatwave over the August Bank holiday and more seasonal trends in September and October, in comparison to the previous year's wet and cold conditions.Market conditions in France will have remained "tough" while Poland should be coming out of its steep decline as the price investment annualises and housing market stabilises. "The shares trade on 15.4x PE to FY15 v sector on 16.7x, which we view as an appropriate discount given the recent instability in forecasts and loss of UK market share," said Numis analyst, Matthew Taylor, in a note issued to investors last week.The broker gave the stock a 'hold' rating and target price of 425p.Thomas Cook will also report its latest interim statement tomorrow. The tour operator has confirmed that its full-year results will be in line with consensus.According to Jefferies International, Thomas Cook is "delivering" and issued the stock a 'buy' rating and target price of 200p in a note last week."Margins are improving, net debt has fallen and the balance sheet considerably strengthened, more cost savings are promised and, importantly, trading is robust," the analyst added. "Yet the shares still trade at a discount to its major competitor, TUI Travel (Hold, PT 380p).
