LONDON (Alliance News) - John Lewis of Hungerford PLC said Monday that it it expects sales in the first half of its financial year to be broadly in line with the previous year.
In a statement ahead of its annual general meeting, the kitchen and furniture products company said that it is "making progress" in addressing unexpected staffing changes, after two of its most experienced kitchen designers decided to leave to pursue careers outside the industry.
However, the company said it was "not prepared to compromise the customer experience" during the intervening period of resolving these staffing changes, which it said had hit its ability to convert enquiries into firm orders.
The company reported revenue of GBP3.1 million in the first half of its last financial year, which ended February 28.
Shares in John Lewis of Hungerford are trading down 11.5% at 1.15 pence Monday morning.
