LONDON, April 7 (Reuters) - IATA's new director general
Willie Walsh called on regulators to step in to counter
monopolistic pricing behaviour by airports and other suppliers
to the aviation industry, giving his first media briefing in his
new role.
He said some groups, such as airports like Britain's
Heathrow, were acting as monopolies towards airlines.
"We will be very strong and aggressive in opposing this,"
Walsh told an online press conference on Wednesday.
"We will expect economic regulators and governments to
recognise the need to step in and ensure that this sort of
behaviour, which is clearly not acceptable, but is not
tolerated."
