PRESS: RBS To Name Natwest Deputy Head Alison Rose As Chief Executive

(Alliance News) - Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC is set to pick Alison Rose to be its first female chief executive officer, Sky News reported Saturday.

Rose is currently deputy chief executive of Natwest Holdings, RBS's ring-fenced holding company. She was tipped as one of the most likely internal successors to outgoing chief executive Ross McEwan, since his departure was announced in April.

According to industry sources, city and banking regulators are currently considering the bank's application to appoint Rose as chief executive, the news agency reported.

Other candidates considered for the role included RBS Chief Operating Officer Mark Bailie and Ian Stewart, head of HSBC Holdings PLC's UK operations. However, Stuart himself said last week that he had no intentions of leaving HSBC.

"The process to appoint Ross McEwan's successor is ongoing," RBS said on Saturday. "Our next CEO will be confirmed in due course, once an appointment has been made."
