Travel operator TUI Travel is the biggest faller in the Footsie after it warned profits this year will be at the low end of forecasts after poor bookings. TUI's third quarter profit of £103m was in line with expectations. Volcanic ash disruption cost £105m. Bookings by Britons are down by 2% over the past 12 weeks with the Netherlands down 3%. This dragged down InterContinental Hotels and cruises operator Carnival.International Power shares have fallen following the release of the details of the merger with part of French electricity giant GDF Suez Energy International. There will be a reverse takeover of GDF's businesses leaving IPR shareholders with a 30% stake.Miners are also lower on the back of lower metals prices. Xstrata and Vedanta Resources are the worst performers in the sector. Pharma companies are strong with Shire, GlaxoSmithKine and AstraZeneca all higher.
