CloudTag Independent Tests Validate Accuracy Of Wearable Technology

Mon, 26th Oct 2015 09:20

LONDON (Alliance News) - Personal health monitoring company CloudTag Inc on Monday said it has secured "very positive" results from its independent user tests of its proprietary sensors, electrodes and algorithms which have shown its technology is accurate at measuring certain human activity.

The independent user tests were carried out and verified in collaboration with the Human Performance Unit at the Centre for Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Essex.

The user tests showed CloudTag's technology could track human heart rates as well as a clinical ECG machine during walking and running activity for 98% to 99% of the time.

The tests also showed that CloudTag's technology could track energy expenditure as well as a CPX Metabolic Cart 91% to 99% of the time, showing a strong correlation.

The level of accuracy compared to a clinical ECG machine or CPX Metabolic Cart is significant because CloudTag's technology is wearable whereas existing technology is not and usually found in hospitals and other health monitoring facilities.

"These results support the company's strategy of delivering highly accurate, medical grade technology to the consumer market. The external validation of CloudTag's proprietary sensors and electrodes developed by the in-house technical team, and proprietary algorithms developed in collaboration with IMEC International, is a major milestone in the build up to CloudTag's product launch. The directors believe CloudTag will deliver the most accurate consumer wearable device to the market to-date," said the company.

"We look forward to the planned launch of our product to the market at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2016," added Chief Executive Amit Ben-Haim.

CloudTag shares were up 3.5% to 2.20 pence per share on Monday morning.
