(Alliance News) - West Africa-focused miner Cora Gold Ltd said Wednesday it has received "highly positive" results from the gravity and cyanide metallurgical test work carried out at its Sanankoro gold project in the Yanfolila gold belt in southern Mali.
Cora said the results demonstrate coarse ore gold recoveries of up to 97%. Further work from the test will be delivered in a scoping study which is due in the fourth quarter of 2019.
"The primary objective of this metallurgical test work programme, undertaken by Wardell Armstrong, was to determine the possibility of utilising either heap leach or gravity-cyanide leach as effective methods of economic gold extraction at Sanankoro," said Chief Executive Jon Forster.
"To that extent the programme has been highly successful, and we now believe that recoveries of up to 97% are achievable using the determined crush size and an industry standard, cost-effective standard gravity and cyanide processing route. We eagerly await the final heap leach results following good initial results, which will be used for comparative purposes."
Forster said the company's understanding of Sanankoro has improved as a result of this work programme.
Shares in Cora Gold were down 9.6% in London on Wednesday at 4.74 pence each.
