Parkmead, Serica, United Oil & Gas And Faroe Awarded UKCS Licences

LONDON (Alliance News) - The UK Oil & Gas Authority awarded five licences to the Parkmead Group PLC, three to Serica Energy PLC, two to United Oil & Gas PLC, and one to Faroe Petroleum PLC in the 30th UK Continental Shelf licensing round.

On Thursday, Parkmead said it was awarded five provisional licences spanning nine UK offshore blocks in the central and southern North Sea and in the west Shetland area.

Chairman Tom Cross said: "These significant new licence awards further increase the scale of Parkmead's energy operations in the UK. The discoveries and de-risked exploration prospects have the potential to add major value to Parkmead."

Parkmead shares were trading 1.1% higher at 73.26 pence on Thursday.

Serica Energy said it was awarded three provisional exploration UK offshore licences in Rowallan South area, Columbus West and Skerryvore block in the central North Sea.

Serica shares were trading 4.3% up at 68.00p.

United Oil & Gas was awarded provisionally two blocks in the UK central North Sea, in an area that includes the Crown oil discovery.

United Oil & Gas shares were up 6.4% at 5.00p.

Finally, Faroe Petroleum said it was awarded one licence in the Edinburgh prospect in the central North Sea.

Faroe shares were up 1.1% at 145.00p.

On Wednesday, Cluff Natural Resources PLC, Independent Oil & Gas PLC and Reabold Resources PLC said they had been awarded 10, 3 and 3 UKCS licences respectively.
