(Alliance News) - Carnival PLC said late Wednesday its Princess Cruises unit has cancelled several vacations in Mexico, the California coast, Caribbean and Mediterranean.
"While Princess Cruises continues to work with various government and port authorities to finalise its additional plans for return to cruising and due to ongoing international travel restrictions, the company is cancelling the following cruise vacations," Carnival explained.
The cruise operator said these are: California Coast and Mexico sailings on Ruby Princess through August 21, 2021; Caribbean sailings on Caribbean Princess through August 21, 2021; and the remaining 2021 Mediterranean season on Enchanted Princess.
Princess added it continues talks with various US and Canadian government officials in an attempt to try to preserve a portion of the Alaska 2021 cruise season.
Princess Cruises President Jan Swartz said: "We continue to have constructive discussions with the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention but still have many questions that remain unanswered. We are working diligently to resume sailing in the US and meet the CDC guidelines.
"We know our guests are just as eager as we are to begin sailing, and we appreciate their patience as we get close to resuming cruising."
Princess noted guests on the cancelled cruises will be able to move to an equivalent cruise in 2021 or 2022.
Miami, Florida-based Carnival Corp closed 4.3% lower in New York on Wednesday at USD24.78. Carnival PLC ended 1.4% lower in London on Wednesday at 1,529.60 pence.
