Central Asia Metals pleased with first quarter production

Thu, 07th Apr 2022 11:49

(Sharecast News) - Central Asia Metals updated the market on its first quarter operations on Thursday, reporting copper production of 3,024 tonnes at Kounrad in Kazakhstan, up from 2,880 tonnes year-on-year.

The AIM-traded firm said zinc-in-concentrate production at Sasa in North Macedonia, meanwhile, fell to 5,240 tonnes from 5,742 tonnes a year earlier, while 6,736 tonnes of lead-in-concentrate was produced at Sasa, down from 7,016 tonnes.

It recorded zero lost time injuries at Kounrad in the quarter, and one at Sasa.

Looking ahead, Central Asia Metals issued full-year production guidance of 12,500 to 13,500 tonnes of copper, 20,000 to 22,000 tonnes of zinc-in-concentrate, and 27,000 to 29,000 tonnes of lead-in-concentrate.

"We have had a strong first quarter, and we are on track to meet our full-year production guidance at both Kounrad and Sasa," said chief executive officer Nigel Robinson.

At 1131 BST, shares in Central Asia Metals were up 3.23% at 255.5p.
