BigBlu Reports Board Changes, CTO Clifton Named Non-Executive Director

Thu, 05th Mar 2020 16:32

(Alliance News) - Bigblu Broadband PLC on Thursday said it has hired Phil Moses as a non-executive director effective from May, and said Chief Technology Officer & Executive Director Simon Clifton will step into a non-executive role.

The broadband services provider also said that Stephen Morana will be stepping down from his role as a non-executive director effective from the company's annual general meeting in May.

Newly-hired Moses was previously chief financial officer of BT Group PLC divisions BT Ignite and Openreach. He was also chief financial officer of Liquid Telecom, a subsidiary of telecommunications group Econet Global Ltd.

"We are delighted to welcome Phil to the board. His experience will be a valuable addition as we aim to deliver strong growth and profitability. We look forward to working with Phil during the next phase of our development - focused on growing recurring revenues, increasing economies of scale and benefiting from high operational gearing, said BigBlu Chief Executive Andrew Walwyn.

"We would also like to thank Simon and Stephen who were instrumental in assisting our development to date and remain strong supporters of the company," he added.

BigBlu shares were trading 3.1% higher at 73.70 pence each on Thursday afternoon in London.

Sunday newspaper round-up: Drinkflation, Bank of England, BT Group

(Sharecast News) - Brewers have cut the levels of alcohol in many beers and lagers, saving millions of pounds in tax in the process. But they haven't cut prices for consumers. Food giants and grocers have done the same through stealthy reductions in package sizes and portions. Critics however hold that so-called drinkflation is the more insidious of the two, as bottle and cans stay the same size and hold the same amount of liquid. In the case of Foster's, which is sold by Heineken in the UK, alcohol by volume has been reduced from 4.0% earlier in 2023 to only 3.7%. - Financial Mail on Sunday
