LONDON (Alliance News) - Blackrock Latin American Investment Trust PLC Tuesday said it outperformed its benchmark in US dollar terms in the half year to end-June.
The trust saw a total return in US dollar terms on net asset value per share of 9.3%, outperforming the MSCI EM Latin America Index, which saw a total return of 7.4%.
Since June 30 its net asset value has risen by 6.5% in sterling terms, and 0.6% in US dollar terms.
The trust maintained its interim dividend at 15.00 cents per share.
"In a period when most global equity markets failed to generate attractive returns, it is encouraging that Latin American equities managed to make reasonable progress during the first half of the year," the company said in a statement.
The trust said that, notwithstanding challenges in Brazil ahead of the presidential election in October, it remains optimistic about the longer-term potential of the region.
Shares in the trust closed up 1.9% at 475.65 pence Tuesday.
