By Susan Daker OF DOW JONES NEWSWIRES HOUSTON (Dow Jones)--BP (BP BP.LN) remains on schedule to move forward with a "static kill" and then start the completion of a relief well, the federal response commander said Wednesday. The "static kill" should start on Aug. 2, said Ret. Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen. In that procedure, the company will pump mud on top of the well. "It's a very complicated, complex operation," Allen said in a teleconference. About five to seven days later, the company will begin finishing off the well by completing a relief well, Allen said. If the first relief-well option doesn't kill the once-gushing well, another relief well is being drilled, he said. A third back-up plan would be to use pipelines to take the oil from the capped well and put into a nearby empty reservoir. -By Susan Daker, Dow Jones Newswires; (713) 547-9208; susan.daker@dowjones.com (MORE TO FOLLOW) Dow Jones Newswires July 28, 2010 17:32 ET (21:32 GMT)
