HOUSTON, Jan 23 (Reuters) - There has been no time set forrestarting a 90,000-barrel-per-day (bpd) crude distillation unitat BP Plc's 413,500-bpd refinery in Whiting, Indiana,which was shut a day earlier, sources familiar with plantoperations said on Friday.
The unit was closed for unplanned repairs late Thursday, thesources said. Energy industry intelligence service Genscapefirst reported the shutdown.
A BP representative declined to discuss operations at theWhiting refinery.
BP was trying to determine the cause of the shutdown of theCDU, one of three units at the refinery that does the initialrefining of crude oil and provides feedstocks for all otherproduction units, the sources said.
The crude unit that was shut, called Pipestill 11C, wasknocked out of production on Jan. 8 by extremely cold weatherand was restarted on Jan. 13..
A 240,000-bpd CDU and a 75,000-bpd CDU continue to be inproduction at the Whiting refinery on Friday, the sources said.
