HOUSTON, March 2 (Reuters) - The second-largest crudedistillation unit (CDU) at BP Plc's 413,500-barrel-per-day Whiting, Indiana, refinery was operatingnormally on Monday following a restart over the weekend, saidsources familiar with plant operations.
The 110,000-bpd CDU completed restarting on Saturday, thesources said, after being shut on Wednesday by a malfunction.Repairs were undertaken to bring the unit back into operation.
The Whiting refinery is one of 12 across the United Stateswhere members of the United Steelworkers union went on strikeafter talks for a new three-year contract broke down.
BP spokesman Scott Dean declined to discuss operations atthe refinery on Monday.
