HOUSTON, March 15 (Reuters) - BP Plc is repairing amalfunctioning compressor on a recently overhauled 102,500barrel per day (bpd) fluidic catalytic cracker at its LosAngeles-area refinery in Carson, California, sources familiarwith operations at the refinery said on Friday.
BP finished a week-long restart of the FCC on March 10 afteran eight week overhaul, two weeks longer than originallyplanned.
"They are working on a compressor associated with the FCCthat they found having a problem," one of the sources said.
The FCC will continue to operate while the repairs areunderway, the sources said.
BP filed a notice on Friday with California pollutionwarning of planned flaring at the 240,000 bpd refinery expectedbetween March 17 and March 28.
A flaring notice is an indication of planned work at arefinery during which hydrocarbons will be burned off in theplant's safety flare because units cannot process them normally.
