Italy's deeply divided Democratic Party (PD) will meet onMay 3 to discuss whether to hold talks with theanti-establishment 5-Star Movement on potentially forming acoalition, two months after inconclusive elections.

ECONOMY

Ratings agency S&P reviews sovereign debt rating on Italy.

DEBT

Treasury sells 3.0-3.5 billion euros new CCTeu bonds dueSept. 15, 2025; 2.25-2.75 billion euros 0.95 percent BTP bondsdue March 1, 2023; 2.5-3.0 billion euros 2.00 percent BTP bondsdue Feb. 1, 2028. Subscriptions close at 0900 GMT.

TELECOM ITALIA

The phone group said on Thursday it appointed ElisabettaRomano as Chief Technology officer. It added that the newmanager, "responsible for ensuring technological innovation,evolution of the networks and for the IT required ...for Tim'sdigitisation process", would report directly to the CEO.(*) Activist fund Elliott stepped up pressure on Telecom ItaliaTIM shareholders to change the group's board at a May 4 vote, ina move to reduce Vivendi's influence and remove "animpediment to TIM's full potential".

ENI(*) The Italian oil major confirmed its production growthtargets for the year after profits in the first quarter rose 31percent boosted by higher oil prices and output.

Iraq failed to attract investment from the top global energycompanies in its oil and gas exploration/development contractauction on Thursday, with no major firms winning any bids andonly Eni submitting an offer.

Libya's National Oil Corporation has held discussions withBP and Eni about resuming exploration activity in theNorth African country, it said on Thursday.

LEONARDO

Seeking to reduce Europe's dependence on a market dominatedby the U.S. and Israel, Airbus, Dassault Aviationand Leonardo, unveiled a first full-scale model oftheir planned Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance (MALE) drone at theBerlin air show.(*) The group said on Friday it signed and agreement withAustralia's Ministry of defence for a local transmission repairand overhal facility.

French eyewear company Essilor, which is in theprocess of merging with Luxottica, reported on Friday a dip infirst-quarter sales on Friday as currency swings impacted itsbusiness.

The finalisation of the proposed combination between the twogroups is planned for the firs part of this year, afterobtaining all necessary authorisations.

The Berlusconi family could decide to sell its controllingshare in the private broadcaster, la Repubblica reported, thoughadding that the "hypothesis is today unlikely".

CNH(*) The group said on Friday it launched a new share buybackprogramme for up to $700 million.
