Internet media platform Blinkx announced on Friday the appointment of a former Vodafone executive to its board.Ujjal Kohli, up until now an Executive Director of the company, will transition to a Non-Executive Director board post.Kohli brings over 25 years' experience in the field of executive management, marketing, Mergers and Acquisitions and board level experience.Based in California, Kohli founded Rhythm, the media company, before its acquisition by Blinkx in December 2013.Prior to working at Rhythm, Kohli was part of the executive team at AirTorch Cellular that led the $60bn merger with Vodafone in 1999. The Non-Executive Director also holds an MBA from Harvard business school.Brian Mukherjee, Chief Executive Officer, said: "Ujjal is a true visionary with extensive roots in the mobile sector. He recognized the massive potential for video across this medium before the age of smartphones and tablets had even begun."Ujjal Kohli also commented: "Blinkx's acquisition of Rhythm NewMedia represents a perfect alignment of our shared vision for premium digital video advertising."As of 10:35 the share price had risen 7.38% to 98.25p.WS
