(Sharecast News) - Bigblu Broadband revealed on Wednesday that non-executive director Christopher Mills had purchased 2.89m ordinary shares in the AIM-listed rural broadband services provider via his interest in Harwood Capital.
Mills, who founded Harwood Capital, acquired the shares on Tuesday at an average price of 78.0p each, for a total value of £2.26m.
Earlier in October, Bigblu's subsidiary Quickline Communications won a further competitive tender to provide "significantly improved" broadband speeds to premises across North Lincolnshire.
It said the contract provided for a total network investment of £1.8m, leading to "significantly faster" broadband speeds in the more isolated areas of North Lincolnshire within two years.
As of 1650 BST, Bigblu shares were up 11.39% at 88.0p.

IN BRIEF: Bigblu Broadband falls despite increased interim revenue
Bigblu Broadband PLC - Bicester, Oxfordshire-based rural broadband services provider - Reports revenue of GBP14.9 million in the six months ending May 31, up 14% from GBP13.1 million the previous year. Like-for-like revenue growth on a constant currency basis was 15%. Adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation grows to GBP2.0 million from GBP1.3 million. Total customers at the end of the half stands at 60,400, up from 58,300 a year prior.
