It's a busy week on the company news and economic events fronts next week, with big hitters such as British Land, Barclays, InterContinental Hotels, BHP Billiton, BAE Systems and Reed Elsevier all updating the market, while economists will be waiting to pore over the Bank of England's quarterly inflation report, January's inflation figures and the unemployment data. Results from Barclays on Tuesday are as likely to feature on the front pages as they are in the City section.Market consensus is for profit before tax for 2010 of £5.54bn, up from 2009's £4.59bn. Revenue is slated to rise to £30.25bn from £29.95bn in 2009."The key trends in the third quarter results were very similar to those reported in the first two quarters of 2010," notes Charles Stanley. "There was better than expected news regarding bad debts which was offset by weaker income at Barclays Capital. As we have stated before with Barclays Capital contributing around three quarters of group profit before tax, it is a key determinant of the group's performance. It was obvious that the division's very strong income growth reported in 2009 was unlikely to continue indefinitely, but given its weakening momentum during 2010, after significant investment has been made in broadening the product range, there is significant debate as to what the normalised performance of this division is going to be," the broker said. Before the deluge, Fidessa, the trading systems provider, gets the ball rolling on Monday with full year figures that Panmure Gordon thinks may pleasantly surprise the market."Whilst we expect Fidessa to trot out the well-worn market place concerns about the impact on the weak macroeconomic (blah, blah, blah) it will still come in at the top end of expectations (revenue range £262m - £267m - Panmure Gordon estimate £267m)," the broker said. "We expect growth of 12% this year - pessimists have 10% - but Fidessa has a track record of delivery ahead of market expectations and a historic CAGR [compound annual growth rate] of 30% since its 1997 IPO [flotation]," the broker added. Panmure Gordon has pencilled in £42m for adjusted profit before tax, up from £35.4m last year. It forecasts earnings per share (EPS) of 77.6p and a full year dividend of 33p.The UK inflation rate is likely to have risen above 4% in January, more than double the target rate the Bank of England is aiming for. The rise, from December's 3.7%, can be partly explained by the hiking of the value added tax rate at the beginning of January from 17.5% to 20%.Core inflation, which strips out volatile items such as energy and food prices, is expected to rise to 3.0% from December's 2.9%.On Wednesday the UK unemployment figures are not expected to provide much cheer. The government's calculation of the unemployment rate is expected to hold steady at 4.5% for January from December's level, while the International Labour Organisation unemployment rate figure is set to stick at 7.9%.Monday February 14INTERIMSAvanti Communications Group, CAP-XX Ltd.INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC ANNOUNCEMENTSIndustrial Production (EU) (10:00)Q4Hrvatske Telekom D.D GDR (Reg S)GMSSlimmaFINALSDialight, Fidessa Group, Hrvatske Telekom D.D GDR (Reg S), SVG CapitalEGMSF&C Commercial Property Trust Ltd.AGMSForesight 2 VCT, Foresight 2 VCT 'C' Shares, Foresight 2 VCT Planned Exit Shares, Hirco, RWS HoldingsFINAL DIVIDEND PAYMENT DATEHargreave Hale AIM VCT 1, ITE Group, Paragon Group Of CompaniesTuesday February 15INTERIMSAlbemarle & Bond HoldingsQUARTERLY PAYMENT DATEAbbott Laboratories, Colgate-Palmolive CoINTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC ANNOUNCEMENTSIndustrial Production (JPN)Capacity Utilisation (JPN)Machine Tool Orders (JPN)Bank of Japan target rate (JPN)Tertiary Industry Index (JPN)Gross Domestic Product (GDP) (FRA) (06:30)Gross Domestic Product (GER) (07:00)Wholesale Price Index (GER) (07:00)Harmonised Competitiveness Indicators (EU) (09:00)GDP (Flash Estimate) (EU) (10:00)Balance of Trade (EU) (10:00)ZEW Survey (EU) (10:00)ZEW Survey (GER) (10:00)Business Inventories (US) (13:30)Empire State Manufacturing Survey (13:30)Import and Export Price Indices (US) (13:30)Retail Sales (US) (13:45)Retail Sales Inventories (US) (15:15)ABC Consumer Confidence (US) (22:00)Q3British Land Co, Yell GroupQ4Marsh & Mclennan Cos Inc.GMSCentamin Egypt Ltd.FINALSBarclays, Domino's Pizza UK & IRL, Electric Word, Heavitree Brewery, InterContinental Hotels Group, Marsh & Mclennan Cos Inc., Premier Foods, Quarto Group Inc.ANNUAL REPORTImage Scan HoldingsIMSSMicro Focus International PlcAGMSSouthern Cross Healthcare GroupUK ECONOMIC ANNOUNCEMENTSConsumer Price Index (09:30)Retail Price Index (09:30)DCLH House Prices (09:30)FINAL DIVIDEND PAYMENT DATEDewhurstWednesday February 16INTERIMSBHP Billiton, Hiwave Technologies, ThorntonsINTERIM EX-DIVIDEND DATEEaga, Stavert ZigomalaQUARTERLY EX-DIVIDEND DATECarnival, M WinkworthINTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC ANNOUNCEMENTSNew Car Registrations (EU) (10:00)Building Permits (US) (13:30)Housing Starts (US) (13:30)Producer Prices Index (US) (13:30)Industrial Production (US) (16:15)Capacity Utilisation (US) (16:15)FINALSMillennium & Copthorne Hotels, Morgan Crucible CoIMSSAshtead Group, Helical BarEGMSJubilant EnergyAGMSIncome & Growth VCT , Invista European Real Estate Trust, Titon HoldingsUK ECONOMIC ANNOUNCEMENTSBoE Inflation Report (09:30)Claimant Count Rate (09:30)Unemployment Rate (09:30)Average Weekly Earnings (09:30)ILO Unemployment Rate (09:30)FINAL EX-DIVIDEND DATECatlin Group Ltd., Future, Northern AIM VCT, Pressure Technologies, Sinclair (William) Holdings, Throgmorton TrustThursday February 17INTERIMSAnimalcare Group, Dunelm Group, Impala Platinum Holdings Ltd., Redrow, Town Centre SecuritiesINTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC ANNOUNCEMENTSCurrent Account (EU) (09:00)Construction Output (EU) (10:00)Consumer Price Index (US) (13:30)Weekly Jobless Claims (13:30)Leading Indicator (US) (15:00)Philadelphia Fed Index (US) (15:00)Consumer Confidence Indicator (EU) (15:00)UK ECONOMIC ANNOUNCEMENTSCBI Trends Total Orders (11:00)Q4Talvivaara Mining Company, Virgin Media Inc.GMSGLOBO, Invesco Perpetual AiM VCTFINALSBAE Systems, Ladbrokes, Rathbone Brothers, Reed Elsevier, Talvivaara Mining Company, Virgin Media Inc.ANNUAL REPORTLadbrokesIMSSCable & Wireless Worldwide, Sports Direct InternationalAGMSeasyJet, LXB Retail Properties, Ottoman Fund Ltd., United DrugTRADING ANNOUNCEMENTSKingfisherFriday February 18INTERIMSGo-Ahead GroupINTERIM DIVIDEND PAYMENT DATEAnite, Carpetright, Consort Medical, ICAPQUARTERLY PAYMENT DATEBritish Land Co, Merchants TrustINTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC ANNOUNCEMENTSDepartment Store Sales (JPN)Producer Price Index (GER) (07:00)GMSInfoserve GroupFINALSAnglo American, Rentokil InitialANNUAL REPORTChemring GroupEGMSJJB SportsUK ECONOMIC ANNOUNCEMENTSInternet Retail Sales (09:30)Retail Sales (09:30)Nationwide Consumer ConfidenceFINAL DIVIDEND PAYMENT DATECareTech Holding, Imperial Tobacco Group, Numis Corporation, RWS Holdings, Shaftesbury
