(ShareCast News) - Payments processing company Worldpay said on Wednesday that Michael Rake, who is currently deputy chairman of Barclays, will leave the bank to become its chairman in September, subject to regulatory approval.Earlier, Barclays responded to media speculation regarding Drake's position at the bank by saying that he intends to stay on in his roles as deputy chairman and senior independent director and be a member of the board until at least the end of 2015."If and when he stands down from the Barclays board, a new senior independent director will of course have been appointed," the bank said.This followed reports from Sky and the BBC suggesting that Rake had resigned from his position at Barclays to take up the role of chairman at Worldpay.Rake has been on the board of Barclays since 2008 and was appointed deputy chairman in 2012.At 15:42, Barclays shares were up 0.3% at 276.85p.
