(ShareCast News) - Barclays has confirmed deputy chairman Michael Rake will continue to serve on the bank's board until a replacement is found, following his appointment as chairman of payment processing company Worldpay."Barclays wishes to make clear that Sir Michael Rake will continue to serve on the Barclays boards as deputy chairman and senior independent director until such time as a new group chief executive is in post, John McFarlane has reverted to the role of non-executive chairman and a replacement senior independent director is in place," it said.This is to ensure that corporate governance standards are maintained and Barclays said any conflict of interest which may arise in respect of Rake's chairmanship of Worldpay will be managed in the normal manner.Worldpay said on Wednesday that Rake would become its non-executive chairman in September.The news comes just a week after Barclays sacked its chief executive Antony Jenkins, saying it was looking for a new set of skills.Rake has been on the board of Barclays since 2008 and was appointed deputy chairman in 2012.At 11:21, Barclays shares were up 1.1% at 281.10p.
