Upmarket jeweller Theo Fennell has raised £1.5m through a placing of 3.95m new shares at 38p.Fenell's largest institutional shareholders are supporting this fundraising alongside chief executive Barbara Snoad, chairman Rupert Hambro, and non-exec Roger Pedder, who together subscribed for a total of 329,000 shares.Turkey-focused gold explorer Ariana Resources is raising £1m through a placing of 50m new shares at 2p per share.Anglesey Mining is to receive £2.7m after underwriters for the recently completed public offering of C$35m (£22m) by its associate Labrador Iron Mines exercised their over-allotment option to purchase 810,900 LIM common shares from Anglesey at a price of C$5.55 per share.Electric vehicles maker Tanfield's associate company in North America, Smith Electric Vehicles US Corporation has been awarded a further $22m grant, towards the production of its Smith Newton electric truck. This funding is in addition to the $10m DoE grant announced in August 2009. Shares in investment Capital Management and Investment fell sharply after it announced a £7m placing to increase its holding in Algeco Scotsman, a provider of portable accommodation. It wants to invest €10m (£9.1m) in the company, using £3m of its available cash and the proceeds from the fundraising.Shares in Sutton Harbour are strong after the operator of marinas, Plymouth Airport and the airline Air Southwest, said full-year results will be in line with expectations after a strong performance from its regeneration and marine divisions partially offset weakness in the transport division.Electrical component maker E2V , which is going through a restructuring process, said contracts for the sale of its existing manufacturing site in Lincoln at a base price of £4.2m have been signed. Meanwhile, the formal consultation process for the proposed restructuring at the Grenoble facility has been concluded, the company said. 'During the latter part of March 2010, the labour relations climate significantly improved and, whilst some risk remains as we move through the implementation phase, the emphasis has shifted towards recovering overdue orders, meeting customer obligations and supporting the long term future of the facility,' the company said.Education Development International, the provider of educational qualifications and assessment services, said trading over the last six months has been in line with expectations and ahead of the corresponding period of the previous year.Underlying sales growth in the UK is encouraging, with the outlook brightened by expectations of increased government funding of apprenticeship and adult training programmes from 1 April onwards.The international business has performed well, excluding exchange rate fluctuations, the company said.
