Emulsifiers group SulNOx say they hope to sign up their first pilot project shortly

SulNOx have invented an emulsifier which they use to create two slightly different products, a Heavy Fuel Oil emulsifier which they hope can save up to 6% of fuel for a container or cruise ship, and a diesel conditioner which stops diesel fuel from being attacked by bacterial growth which can quickly lead to sludge. Both allow water to be mixed with fuel, allow fuel to burn more cleanly and give considerable environmental benefits.

Nicholas Nelson, CEO, was interviewed by London South East, and explained that his company are close to a breakthrough point. Before lockdown they were in discussions with three different engine manufacturers in South Africa. "These makers manufacture large engines for use throughout Africa, we have been in touch with them and know they are hot to trot. Post lockdown we will set up a pilot project with one or more of them". By way of background, SulNOx CEO Nicholas Nelson told us: "We are a royalties company. We don't manufacture anything, and in fact we work closely with Swedish chemicals giant Nouryon who manufacture the products under licence, deliver them to the client, invoice and collect payments on our behalf".

He added: "When a ship burns Heavy Fuel Oil, typically up to 50% goes into the air unburnt in the form of exhaust, which isn't good for the environment. Add our emulsifier and we hope to save up to 6% of fuel costs. I believe that Carnival have around 100 cruise liners and their annual toxic emissions equal 260 million cars, all the cars in Europe. to give you a sense of the scale of the problem". SulNOx Group have a market cap of £35M and are one of the largest companies listed on Aquis, who have recently taken over NEX Exchange.
