I have an existing portfolio. How to I convert it into the new format? Sword
Posts: 334
Hi Sword, Sorry for the delay in answering. The Portfolio versions are very different, so there is no conversion tool available. Unfortunately, you will have to manually input your holdings into the new portfolio format. Regards, Admin.

I cannot seem to find a button to transfer info from old portfolio to new. Cant be bothered to be writing it all down then typing it all back in again.

If i could just copy from old portfolio it would be a good start. Just wasted 20 mins faffing about trying to remember when i bought my shares and what comission i paid. Gave up in the end.

I have only just got around to trying the new system - and scrolled back in vain for a reference to this. A frustration is that all I have easy access to is my dealing platform 'current valuation' summary table which features the 'average cost per share' - inclusive of tax and charges. The input screen asks for price - then adds on a calculation of tax. With a huge amount of effort, I guess I could find the price (before tax and charges) but the facility to enter the average cost would be so much easier to deal with. With 20+ holdings to enter, I have abandoned efforts to use the new portfolio at this first hurdle. I hope that others agree and find this a useful suggestion.

We probably need BOTH portfolio types "Simple Front Line" and "Accounting/achieval". The current one is just so simple and quick use and also forgiving (if its wrong just delete and re-enter simply elegant). The new one may well meet the Investors Chronical and Hargreaves and Barclays standards of complexity BUT simple and fast is good also!

Any chance of having a percentage column added alongside the profit/loss ? This would enable to see quickly not just the £ value but the percentage up /down on the investment ?? Other than this it's great

Greetings from a new member. I tried to enter some demutualisation shares in the new portfolio, but it refused to accept a purchase price of zero. As HMRC considers the acquisition price as zero for CGT purposes, I feel the portfolio should be able to reflect this. As a workaround I entered the price as a tiny fraction of one penny (0.0001p) which the portfolio rounded to zero, but of course there may be hidden gremlins doing it this way.

Can anyone tell me how to view the "notes" I have added to transactions?
Hi CMIC. Within the Portfolio, click on the 'Transactions' tab, and then on 'Order ref.' of the particular share you want to see the notes for.

Thanks for that Scott - easy when you know how - but how do I view the notes I've added to cash book entries? Also (am I allowed two questions?) I tried to add a transaction in Zanaga Iron Ore (ZIOC) today and got an error message (I think it said Error 500 internal server error) Any ideas on that one!?

Hi CMIC, Ah, it would appear there is currently no way to see notes on cash transactions, thanks for pointing this out. I've added this to our development to-dos, and will update you when this is rectified. Apologies for the inconvenience in the meantime. If you can try adding the ZIOC transaction again, it may of just been that the server was busy. Let us know if this problems persists (and ideally at what time the error happened), and we'll look into it in more detail. Thanks, Richard

Many thanks Richard, I've now added the ZIOC transaction successfully. The notes problem is no big deal, but I appreciate you looking into it. Otherwise, I'm very happy with the portfolio system and as treasurer of an investment club I find it invaluable for sharing information with the members

Hi there, can somebody explain me how to buy shares here :))) as no credit card details asked so far or they are asked later when you subscribe to some sort of a platform. Cheers

Hi deividas10. Our Portfolio is purely a 'dummy' system for you keep track of practice trading or perhaps Shares you buy elsewhere through an official trading platform. Best, Scott.

Hi, I just entered my share portfolio into the data base and mistakenly put the cost price in as £9.99, instead of £999.99. How do I amend this. Cheers

Hi Kline, On www.LSE.co.uk/portfolio there will be a blue bar at the top in which you can click and get taken back to the old portfolio if you previously used it. If you have any problems with this please contact us on info@lse.co.uk and we can look in to it further. Thanks

Could you add e.g. an asterisk with a share that has gone ex-dividend? It would explain a sudden price change and could be kept for say a week.

Hi Willem, Thanks for your suggestion. I have passed this on to the development team to have a look in to and see if it is possible. Best wishes

I dont know where you get the cost prices from...not me. They are astronomic and show a large loss when actually there is a large profit. I cant see how to change these items and that is irritating.
