Kalimantan Gold (TIDM: KLG)

Following on from the maiden inferred mineral resource statement issued in September 2014 which saw a flurry of speculative trading activity, everything went relatively quiet at KLG....until now.¹ January 2015 saw the company acquire a further resource (Beutong copper-gold project) and this resulted in a slight reorganisation of the board with Tony Manini stepping up to become CEO – he certainly has valuable long term experience in the resources industry and I believe this change has come at the best time as KLG begins to assess in greater depth, its portfolio of copper-gold projects in Indonesia.² Recently KLG received a key permit from the Indonesian Government to allow the company to proceed with their drilling programme and with the permit being valid for 2 years it provides KLG with a 2 year window of opportunity to do as much work as they can in the permitted areas of interest, subject to funding.³ Indeed, KLG has already updated the market with drilling activity in less than a week since it received the permit so it looks like the company is taking this bull by the horns and is actively going to make the most of this opportunity.⁴ The market awaits the assay results from this recent drilling activity and these are due in the week commencing 11 May 2015. However, this is just the start of a medium term drilling campaign and KLG has been insistent on providing a steady stream of news flow to keep the market interested and I believe this will happen since news is essential to maintain investor interest and sentiment. I say this since KLG is not the only company listed on a stock exchange – hundreds of others are too – and each company needs to understand that they are in constant competition with other listed companies for investor attention and capital.
