Clogging-up the Bulletin Boards

Friday, 6th November 2009 10:27 - by Boredmum

100 posts a day and you are lucky if more than 5 are of any substance. There used to be a time when, if a Bulletin Board/Chat Forum had a huge amount of postings in one day, it would mean that something out of the ordinary had happened. A time for the boards to be busy is usually when emotions are running high. It could be a share that is multi-bagging where, all of a sudden, you have new posters curious to the ‘story’ or long-termers that are just expressing their pleasure. I myself have been in a share that has gone through suspension/de-listing/administration. I have seen the board busy with postings as people vent their anger (most late into the night as our beloved alcohol takes effect). I can totally understand the need for that to happen with some posters. Lately, there have been shares that I hold and all of a sudden you have 100, perhaps 100 plus posts made. Initially, you think ‘I wonder what has happened?’ - only to find it is overrun with constant current share price information (now surely any trader or investor can find their way to this information themselves. If not, they should seriously think about what they are doing) or repetition of information, not all of it current. Even worse are the crazy predictions of multi-bagging (‘Double by next week and 5 times by Christmas’), but nothing of substance to back up as to how it will get there. Then the next week you have people asking ‘When do you think it will get there now?’ as the share price has been static or fallen. The trouble with all these postings is that you can only go back so far, so opinion and information is quickly lost - for some, rather conveniently. So, I can rant my displeasure but it will do no good. Many are fed up with how the boards are over-run but, unfortunately, the only ones that can do anything about it will be the ones who choose not to. From Admin: We could not agree more! Well said ‘boredmum’. Everything in our power will be done to ensure that the lse.co.uk Share Chat boards do not descend into pandemonium over the long-term.
