A busy day...

Tuesday, 27th September 2011 19:01 - by Resident IFA

Yesterday was jam-packed. You couldn’t take your eyes off it for a second! More of a Micro-Blog today, I am afraid. Time presses on. 8.40 a.m. Open up the office. 9 Open up the weekend post and check Bank credits & debits. 9.15 Clear e-mails and ensure PA has the form a Client signed on Sunday…yes, I know! 9.30 An Accountant I had met at a Natwest business breakfast the week before visited to ‘suss me out’ (my words). We agree that he should refer a Client to me to see if I can ‘walk the talk’. I am confident that he will not be disappointed. 11 Tea! 11.30 A new Client comes in to discuss protecting her Mortgage, both against death and prolonged sickness/disability. We apply for a Life Insurance policy there & then, but have to diarise for 6 months time to discuss the other cover – having started her new job only a few weeks ago. 12.50 Lunch! (At my desk) 1.30 Two representatives of one of the main investment ‘Platform’ providers visit to provide training. A worthwhile two hours. 3.30 Another Life Insurance case. Two policies to arrange, so I surf two provider’s websites to obtain the relevant documentation – Personalised illustration, Key Features document, and Application form. My PA leaves at 3.30 each Monday, so poor little me has to arrange the covering letter too! 4.30 Phone calls: Booking a prospective new Client appointment via Accountant referral…no, not that one! Also, personal calls to book Boiler and teeth repairs…I’d rather not. 4.45 More e-mail answering and composing. Also, preparation for Wednesday, as I’m not in the office on Tuesday. 5.20 An early finish. Off to pound the streets in an effort to keep fit. It definitely helps my work; hence I keenly make time to exercise regularly. Well, that was a snap-shot of a fairly average day in the life of an IFA. Until next time… P.s. I particularly liked Moosh’s comment on my last Blog. I hope that we have a more diverse readership at LSE than only self-employed Day-Traders!
