Because imo the share price has been walked down to ridiculous levels his bid on paper looks reasonable when comparing to the level we were trading but he knew to build a mine of this magnitude and mine life would take at least $1B+ from a brownfield site and let's not forget the workforce required to operate the mine, so if he and his colleagues could pull off a deal at the price he offered it was steal and he knew it, as I stated before Kenmare does have a moat around it preventing others from entering you need a lot of money to get into the space he was trying to do it on the cheap and rightly got rebuffed.

Even though the sp doesn't reflect what we have here once the upgrades efficiencies and moves have been completed Kenmare will have a fantastic business we just need patience, as I have stated previously our first WCP move could have financed from fcf, in fact from memory that was the plan, only MC went on to waste money on tender offers/ buy backs then later burden the company with debt.

Rax, I'm either being very thick (probably) or missing your point. If he thought it would cost that much to start from scratch why did he offer such a (your words) cheeky offer. You say it was a cheeky offer. After DD they offered less.....

You only have rewind back to when MC was in latter stages of leadership and asked that very question what's KMR worth he smiled and said along the line if you had to build the mine from scratch today it would cost over $1B, for once I don't think he was spinning a tale, think about it from brown field site to working mine, the PFS, permitting then design ordering of equipment lead times etc and inflation costs, there is definitely a moat around Kenmares operations that limits new comers they need a big wad of cash.
