Previously, David was a partner in Deloitte, finance director of GEC plc, chairman of Tomkins plc, Britax International plc, PayPoint plc, Darty plc and Impress Cooperative UA. In Scotland, he was deputy chairman of Standard Life and a director of the Weir Group plc. His philanthropic interests included chairing the trustees for The Royal School for the Blind (SeeAbility). He was educated at the Edinburgh Academy."
