my its more likely to go to £10 than £6. Looking to double up around £5...and needless to say, I'm still disappointed...
LUSAKA, June 11 (Reuters) - Vedanta Resources (Other OTC: VDNRF - news) plans to double finished copper production at Zambia's Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) to 200,000 tonnes this year, the CEO of its Zambian unit said on Monday. KCM has ploughed more than $3 billion into the southern African country’s copper mines since 2004, including a further $1 billion investment package announced last year to revamp and upgrade some mines as well as build a new refinery and power plant.
I can recall with accuracy that last year on divi day the stock actually rose a significant amount

Pursuant to provisions of Regulation 30 of Listing Regulations, we wish to inform that the Hon'ble Delhi High Court on May 31, 2018 allowed the writ petition filed by Vedanta Limited ('the Company'), directing Government of India to extend the Production Sharing Contract for the Rajasthan Block for a period of 10 years beyond the current contract term in accordance with Article 2.1 of the Production Sharing Contract on the same terms and conditions. The Hon'ble Delhi High Court whilst pronouncing the judgment also directed Government of India to formally communicate its decision extending the Rajasthan Block Production Sharing Contract within two weeks. A copy of the judgement of the Hon'ble Delhi High Court is still awaited.
Only a quarter pc down now and rising...
Percent down one the SP despite all the hate in the media lol. Onwards and upwards! Such a diverse company. There's no way the shutting down of one pesky factory will keep this stock back ....
Tuticorin protest: Tamil Nadu government orders permanent closure of Sterlite plant Read more at: //economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/64355730.cms?utm_source=contentofinterest&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=cppst https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/tamil-nadu-government-orders-permanent-closure-of-sterlite-plant-in-tuticorin/articleshow/64355730.cms
Really great resilience, the drop in SP a lot less than I expected given the media reports and fake news. Seems like a bargain at the moment.
Did Vedanta wave a gun? I expect Vedanta to take this to the courts and get approval using legal means. | imagine they are taking time to assess to let the situation cool down.
RNS says all about Tuticorin
Worth mentioning: In terms of Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations, please note that the said Copper Smelter has contributed ~Rs. 1,373 Crore i.e. ~5.4% of the consolidated EBIDTA during the last financial year 2017-18 and the carrying value of property, plant and equipment as at March 31, 2018 was ~Rs. 2,131 Crore i.e. ~2% of total assets.
Given the percentage EBITA isn't all that not expecting much but who knows?
There's a tiny chance for Vedanta in Tuticorin. I have been watching this unrest closely, and I am 99% sure they won't re-open.
No offence but luddites spring to mind
Freefall lol. Please look at who's saying what and what influence they actually have. There's nothing but uplift from here. India isn't about to shut down a facility that supports the countries infrastructure with some knee jerk reaction over an incident that had nothing at all to do with Vedanta. Lives were lost due to the local police. Onwards and upwards! I reckon this is way way undervalued.
In his first media interview since the violent protests at the Sterlite Copper smelter in Tuticorin, Anil Agarwal, chairman, Vedanta Resources, alludes to vested interests behind the tragic events. India produces only 2% of the worlds copper, and the rest is supplied by Canada, the Middle East, and Europe. Right from day one, I have been saying this that this happens only in India. All the time, people take advantage of our democracy, Agarwal tells ETs Vatsala Gaur and Satish John in an exclusive interaction over the telephone from London. https://m.economictimes.com/news/company/corporate-trends/confident-about-zero-discharge-from-plant-in-line-with-our-stringent-rules-anil-agarwal-vedanta/articleshow/64348141.cms
https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/sterlite-plant-in-tuticorin-tamil-nadu-to-be-closed-down-amid-protests-chief-minister-1858836 Looks like free fall tomorrow. Hold tight!
.the deaths were the result of violent protests and trigger happy police. Vedanta are not the police and are therefore not directly responsible. John McDonnell is a fool and was just trying to grab some headlines with a sound bite. To many other jobs in the region are reliant on the copper smelter...environmental concerns can always be resolved with the right processes and expertise.
As has been stated, the deaths were not caused by Vedanta. If you want to start moralising why not delist BATS while you're at it. Huge number of horrible deaths caused by tobacco. And I'm sure we can add "reasons" to delist at least half the FTSE 100 and 250. With the up coming dividend, looks like a great time to buy more.
..... Only a matter of time.... https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/markets/stocks/news/vedanta-sticks-with-plan-to-expand-indian-smelter-despite-deadly-protests/articleshow/64340452.cms
Wow. Before you damn Vedanta, maybe take a look a little deeper at most of the other listed companies. Vedanta won't and should not get delisted. I was a silly remark by a silly has been trying to grab some headlines that will pass. Once again, Vedanta had nothing to do with those deaths. Those were the direct result of action by the local police, NOT Vedanta. Wow, the propogating of fake news and the level of damping on this forum is incredible. Regardless, onwards and upwards .... Can't wait for the plant to be reopened .. it's only a matter of time......
