I also consider this to be good value at this price
Just topped up to the tune of £30,000
Let's hope we are correct
I am prepared to hold until well after divi as the sp should climb with euros football coming up in June and all the beer that will be sold,
I am buying more, great entry.
Hi Colti; I should have clarified; since I meants the previous divi that was really a return of capitals.
I consider TSCO very good values at this SP.
Regards: Jaffjoon
x divi date is May20th
Having sold all just prior to the ex divi date , I am now back in since seems good value. Bear in mind that due to all the staycations this year , most grocers should do very well in addition we do not know if there may be further lock downs.
Sainsburys results out today reporting a 39% fall in profit, Morrisons was circa 50% fall and Tesco only 20% which seems a positive sign.

Noticed a few value shares are down at moment, this must be the end of month dump. Or pre ex div dump. Us market is holding up well but weakening. Though this could go lower if us market corrects, this is pretty cheap to load up at this price.
You are correct
I would have thought as x divi day approaches the sp would climb,
I don't think the divi impact is 4% next month I believe it's about 2.6% with the total split between final and interim? Or am I wrong?
I’m on 0.75% with Nationwide yippee (not)
Nice on I also wish he would peace off,
This is the same company as it was when the sp was higher and nothing has changed
All share prices go up and down,
Why not peace off
So many posters chatting waffle and are just getting the feed form negative media and are becoming chicken licken as a personality. All I can say is look at the facts the economy is getting to understand this covid 19 dragon and now getting the upper hand.
****Market leader Tesco's (TSCO.L) sales rose 6.4%****

You are so right Spindler, IMO TSCO has always been a bit iffy especially with the tricks they play in their shops on those consumers who lack discernment.
Just lurking to see if an entry point and read some of the latest posts. See some poor souls got taxed on a so called special dividend that wasn't a dividend thanks to the consolidation. Totally bogus as Bill and Ted would say.
I have trouble looking at the fundamentals when i see 50% debt level of the total market cap that could have been expunged and on consolidated shares in issue. I also noted in the comments that they still left a pension deficit of 1 billion thanks to the poster who pointed that out if its correct....so that's 8 billion debt and a 1 billion pension deficit..making 9 billion in th whole.....tell me again why they did a return of capital under the bogus guise of a Special dividend combined with a share consolidation ? Sorry suspect Board of Directors here...big red flag
He’s not even clear on what support and resistance are so wouldn’t bother, the support is 222 not resistance!
Cheers Colti, despite it morally feeling the right thing to do, looks like can't be done, o well I live and learn, atb
Thanks Eccles, I thought what you said might be the case, not too keen on handing over 7.5% of my divi.. Had meant sell and buy into my isa and forgot.. Was too busy. Cheers

I would not worry, I have found many times the sp returns to previous highs,
I considered buying at £2.27 but actually bought at £2.23 mainly for the divi
I have found many
Dadean, sorry old chap but it doesn't matter what you think, HMRC still thinks it's an income div and therefore taxable unless contained in an ISA.
Bought in at £2.28. was hoping to see some movement upwards, getting a bit worried by the constant shift downwards, are we all holding?
You are right it is not taxable,
This share should be a buy at this price,
while ever the dividend is getting paid with a yield of around 4% it is far better than having cash in the bank,
Good morning, wondering what consensus views were on the special dividend we received earlier in the year, should it be entered as dividend income on the tax return, I'm not sure it should be as it was a return of capital, which I immediately reinvested on receipt. I don't consider I profited by it in anyway yet, nor did my capital position change in tesco. For those reasons it was not true income. Thank you
