Stobart Group has now officially changed its name to Esken Ltd. Effective today. New name. New board.
LSE & HL have updated the name. IG haven't yet so it seems to be a mix and match day!
See you on the new boards (unless you talk cr@p then I won't see you at all as you will have been filtered!) ;)

Hi Volcano - It's a good one to trade. I went in just before the close and picked up a chunk.
Maybe too early, market didn't like the latest trading report, ( at first glance ) that said the the Div looks fine for at least the next 4/5 quarters.
I still haven't pressed the button on SPT, yet this time round, sub 2.40 looks attractive - maybe i'll wait till closer to the results in March.
STOB ( ESKN ) looks close to offering another opportunity shortly - be good to hear news on Stobart Air - one way or another.

Hi Volcano - have not pressed any buttons today as yet.
Many are dropping into potential buy territory.
Not sure if this will be a small market adjustment or something more longer term.
SPT @2.40 looks attractive, so do many others @ today's prices. Will hold fire and see how UK markets react as you say to the US open. There may be a trade or two, towards the end of the day. TBH I'm in no hurry, lol

We own 9.14% of Eddie Stobart (ESL)
Here is what it says on ESL website.
https://eddiestobart.com/plc-info/significant-shareholders/
AdamCEO are you sure Stobart group still own Eddie Stobart shares. As far as I am aware Stobart Group entered an 11.8% position in the AIM listed company in February 2020 however went on to sell all of their holding in May 2020 for £10,000,000. Please correct me if this is not the case.
If we still do hold 11.8% ES shares today’s worth would be just over £31,000,000.
Volcano - STOB remains a marmite share. Govt support to the sector is helpful in the short term.
The future remains uncertain for the Aviation sector. Only 5 weeks till the end of Feb deadline for the sale of Stobart Air. If they can lose that then the sp should see a marked uplift.
I'm still holding a fair chunk of the shares I've collected through top slicing over the last few years.
Pop over to the ADFVN chat board, and they seem more up beat than here.
This bb has its fair share of glass half empty posters, which is fine, its worth considering all views. Though sometimes its not easy to work out whether such posters are posting looking for a price, or have previously sold out at a loss and don't want to see newbies making money, or have genuine concerns.
I've been looking for an entry on GSK, SPT and BA. in particular, in recent days, but i wont be offering negative views, on those boards, hoping for a low entry, it just makes you look silly if you miss out. If an sp comes into my price range i'll just dip buy.
These boards remain useful to pass info, but are unlikely to influence sp's imv.
Have a great day mate.

Is Stobart Group (LON:STOB) Using Debt In A Risky Way?
BySimply Wall StPublishedJanuary 21, 2021
Volcano - no have been looking around, no news on the Stobart Air sale that I can see, atm.
SGE has been fun this morning, looks like those talking it down over the last few days, hoping for a low entry have missed out.
There seem to be many posters on many bb's expressing concerns over the next trading updates. Only thing is talking on bb's doesn't make any money. Putting your cash in at a price you feel will make a turn does.
But that's the name of the game with trading - buy a share low and pass it on to someone else for a profit.

The party has been a long time coming. It is a bit like all the music concerts I should have been going to last year. Delayed and postponed.
I, for one, have been waiting since 8th June last year for this one. By the looks of things, a lot of people have been waiting considerably longer.
Onwards and upwards, hopefully.
The party hasn't even started STOB 's 70%-80%% undervalued now. I think It will make up 1/2 of this in the next 28 days. I cant see anything on the exchange better value. This is an infrastructure stock like a utility company - the grant aid pretty much says exactly that.

fantastic news..........https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-55692486
I don't think this new news makes a material difference but it doesn't matter - it will spook the market and all aviation shares will dip hard imo.
I think you have to remember that we've yet to see a big bankruptcy and I think aviation related companies may well provide the first example. at some point that will come and we'll see another big dip across the board.
but I don't know how exposed stob is to that. I've always liked it as a good medium term recovery play but am not holding right now (out at 31ish). it may be untouched on Monday and continue to rise as its mainly a technical rise but I think there will be downward pressure from market early next week.
Is there actually much passenger traffic going through airports like Southend at the moment? Obviously all aviation will react similarly but in real terms do air corridors make any difference to their income currently? I ask because i really don't know.... should probably know more to be honest

Interesting news about the Air Corridors closing. Hard to know what impact this could have on aviation stocks. And what this could actually mean in real terms - prob not much. Have to be honest i'm worried about my John Menzies, but not so much about STOB which remains ridiculously undervalued. Would appreciate views......
Yes cheers Gerry. I'm still hanging on. One of very few shares that seems to going my way at the moment.
Because whenever I've tried trading a stock, eventually it leaves me behind and psychological reasons seem to prevent me buyer higher than I sold at when trading, so i'm trying to sit tight. Obviously depending on any significant news that can change. Bad news - I'll take a loss, good news I'm in profit and will likely buy more higher up (presuming good news pushes it that way).
R Griffiths stake building puts this company up in credibility IMO.
I would be interested in the traders here who sold around 35p a couple of days ago, if they would buy back higher if the SP creeps up? I know they are waiting for lower meanwhile. Feels like bingo sometimes I know.
NR - today was handy - large volumes of small trades, circa 9.9M shares traded ( bought and sold).
Total no of trades was 2634 - so lots of PI's swapping shares. ( average trade was around £1140 ).
STOB doesn't usually achieve such high levels of trades, often it can be a bit "tumbleweed" here lol.
Sentiment is key as is trading volumes. Personally I felt it was time to take some profits, this morning, though I like to trade this one.
Anything could and generally does happen here, lets see what tomorrow brings.
The sale of Stobart Air remains key in the medium to long term for STOB, in the mean time i'll trade it on dips and sentiment.
The good news is we have many new buyers and some who have added more at these levels. So a lot more happy bunnies than back in the autumn where loads were under water ( many still are ).
Hopefully a few more positive souls will join this board and the debate.

G
Have not sold any myself. I find I trap myself out of 100% on many occasions just for a quick turn. Sitting for 6 months minimum.
Have any profit takers got a price in mind to get back in and what happens if it continues blue for the next few days?
Do you still try a trade, buying in much higher if that happens? Cheers NR
Yep Volcano - take profits offered up. STOB is very likely to provide another trading opportunity over the coming days and weeks.

Volcano - EMG has been on a lovely run - looks like it broke 1.50 again earlier today before a little profit taking.
I bought back into SGE again today @ 5.74, hoping for a little run up to it's ex div day on the 14th. next Thursday. hoping to see 6.00 next week - we'll have to see.

The ADFVN chat is far more +ve than in here, though I'm not sure, if they are mainly dip buyers, as there is no discussion around the key short term challenge for the BOD here, namely to find another new home for Stobart Air asap.
Still glass half full or glass half empty, it has to be said that STOB still offers short term trading opportunities.

Unfortunately cargo movements are restricted at Southend to only 10% of the total amount of movements by the local councils; because of the decimation of passenger flights due Covid, the cargo flight allocation is largely used up by the 'Amazon' cargo flights. Extra cargo flights have been going everywhere BUT Southend as a result.
One would hope that SEN management had been seeking a derogation (based on the unique situation and the greater national requirements) from this requirement from the Councils, but I have not seen anything in the local press to this end.
I'm wondering if STOB will finally have some good fortune. With the current border restrictions, many companies will turn to air-freight to ship their goods. Hopefully STOB will move quickly to capitalise.
Birddog - I feel I play with a straight bat here, I tend to work with info that is reported and out there in the public domain.
I'm certainly looking towards 2021 for STOB with eyes wide open ! That said I wonder if on occasions, my belief in the long term potential at Southend and the long term future for the Energy Division, can get wrapped up in peoples minds, with the financials at STOB, and how one may wish to play it on any given day.
I've always traded it, and built up free top slice shares, It's not somewhere I've wished to park long term funds, so yes I hold shares though probably a lot less than many here.
Talking of playing with a straight bat I recall posting on here back at the time of the Connect consortium, that STOB had managed to de risk it's balance sheet when passing Stobart Air across to Connect. I am pretty sure I flagged the potential risk first on here when like a "rubber ball" Stoabrt AIr, bounced back to STOB, earlier this year. So in effect my warning of the potential issue was out there, should anyone have wished to read, my musing.
To my mind one can remain balanced, whilst holding a "glass half full" outlook on the two chief projects here. Whether STOB will be the ultimate owner of the projects 5, 10, 20 years down the line, is of course a separate issue.
I'm awaiting your cogent appraisal of the yr end 2020 Southend Airport Accounts, when they become available.
In all honesty, without you Truth, offering your insight here I probably wouldn't be posting myself, though I expect Moni will reappear to provide some" Xmas cheer" should the sp fall to sub 20p lol
All the best mate.
G
Hi Birddog - You've mentioned before that you have long given up any hope of recovering your investment in STOB.
To date, I can't recall any of your 41 posts being anything than "glass half empty". I'm not sure of your average, though I suspect you'd need a 5 bag from here to break even.
May I ask, very politely, in view of all the info you kindly provide to the debate, mainly to the downside, on both the financials at Southend and the lease issues with Stobart Air, what piqued your interest for you to take a position here ?
G
Truth - I'm seeing our latest discussions on Carlisle Airport, as something to pass the time whilst we await any news on a potential sale of Stobart Air, which I see as a key hurdle, for the BOD to overcome. With Stobart Air sold then STOB has a fighting chance to get the Energy Division up to a level that will allow a decent sale price. With Stobart Air hanging around the drain on cashflow may well result in a need for perhaps an extra £50m of funding raising - at 20p a share we'd be looking at what another 250M shares sloshing around. More if a placing came at sub 20p.
Turning back to Carlisle, STOB have developed Eden Park, and receive the rents atm.
I'm guessing you will feel that the latest Govt funding is not money well spent though - what is it - £8m is perhaps better spent though than some Govt gifts that have been uncovered this year !!
https://cumbriacrack.com/2020/11/24/carlisle-lake-district-airport-to-receive-up-to-8-million-grant-to-support-recovery-after-coronavirus/
I'll take any factual local knowledge you may feel is useful to share. Opinions I welcome too - provided they are presented as such, my friend.
Btw do you have any up to date figures of the occupancy levels at Eden Park ?

Hi Volcano - looks like cpi is popping over 50p which you predicted. Not in there atm, can't be everywhere.
I took another bite at TLW on 22nd Oct think it was, about a day or so after the Uganda confirmation. Must say it didn't look too good by early Nov. Still I left it in the oven, and it seems to have browned off nicely.
UU. results out tomorrow, it's drifting. Not sure - think I'll see what the market thinks, in the morning. Every chance of picking it up again before Xmas maybe I'll look for an ex div dip a week or so before the end if the year. Would rather luck it up around the £8.50 level, maybe I'm being unrealistic.
G
Gerry,i have my hands full this morning with STOB, CPI, COST and TLW.
Morning Volcano - the absence of stamp duty also helps here. Am guessing you make a few quid on STOB today.

TF - just to mention based on the timing of your post on the close yesterday, mid price sub 24p.
Traders that bought can be out for 25.8p as I type somewhere around a conservative 7.5% for about 1.15 hrs invested here.
