investors getting in ahead of year end trading statement due end of next week
Wonder what rattled our cage today?
all i can say is this share has held up well compared to the broader market this week, as for putin your guess is as good as anyones
What's the Kazakstan sovereign risk assessment these days, with Putin sabre-rattling in Ukraine?
Bought a few yesterday for my income portfolio. Cash, prospects all look pretty solid so comfortable to add it and add more in any weakness. Cements not going to go out of fashion any time soon :)
Investors are concerned about dividends. Kazakhstan introduced a witholding tax on interim dividends. Steppe is mulling skipping the interim payment to avoid the tax and just pay it all out in the final dividend. Free cash flow is solid so dividends are likely to be high.
Anybody know the reason for the recent decline? The company looks rock-solid, if Stockopedia is to be trusted. Divi looks quite generous. Recent technicals look poor, so I've just taken a micro position to enable me to watch it closely for a while.
itsalottery; great header, "not a hare"! However, like the tortoise, it's a winner. File under the boring and forget, only remembering when the exciting divis keep flowing....i know some are concerned that it is not growing market share - frankly whilst they keep paying sustainable 8%+ divis they can stagnate and be boring forever. There are only 3 ways for this share, in a growing economy; stagnation, growth or being taken out. All 3 are amiable to me, albeit i prefer the first.
I'm assuming it's due to weather as the average winter temperature is well below freezing, even during the day which will have a knock-on effect on demand within the industry. It becomes prohibitively expensive for low margin companies to work with cement at this time of year
Why does cement production collapse in Kazakhstan from October to January? Happens every year ant reason
just bought into this today i cant see much wrong with the company myself, steady plodder with upside and a good dividend yield.

as Kazakhstan builds back better .....Central Asia’s largest and wealthiest country, Kazakhstan, has been making significant upgrades in the cities of Almaty, Semei, Oskemen, and Shymkent since 2019 when it joined the EBRD’s €1 billion urban sustainability program, dubbed “Green Cities.” The innovative program, whose ambition is to serve 100 cities, aims to address environmental issues in urban centers and improve residents’ quality of life.
Example such as the construction of a 66-kilometer ring road around Kazakhstan’s largest city The Big Almaty Ring Road, known as BAKAD, is considered the largest public-private partnership (PPP) project ever in both Kazakhstan and Central Asia. EBRD has played a significant role in organizing the financing package of US$ 585 million for the construction of the road
cement in demand and will be increasingly so as build back better projects begin in earnest :-)
Price of cement is up in China, US, Europe this quarter. Hard to imagine it is any different in Kazakhstan, so it really depends on how much market share STCM has retained.
Eurasian Development Bank to invest US$1.2 billion in its members in 2021 - "Majority-owned by Russia and Kazakhstan, the EDB carries out project financing in infrastructure and industrial projects as well as transport and energy fields."

And the irony is that green energy projects like wind turbines and hydroelectric schemes often need huge volumes of cement.
the good news is a lot of people need cement and will go on needing it....same as oil, gas etc ....
Cement isn't environmentally friendly unfortunately lot of companies that aren't green are getting hit today
Clinker is one of the worst for the environment
Scary times in the market
My share value has been stuck at the same rate now for weeks. Any idea what is going on pls?

new hold #STCM 42.44p...built position in past couple of days at 42.44p average, cement producer, mkt pull back provides opportunity
Does seem very good value at present based on yield and P/E. Looks like the market expected more growth than posted but it's priced where I'd expect to see a company running at steady state whilst the growth was reasonable. Obviously cement in Kazakhstan just ain't s3xy.
Got hit 7% maybe people taking gains but defiantly a buy
