They have held up very well all day.. good sign
back in the blue
the 350 top risers today, as of 15 mins ago, was
Greencore Group PLC 4.42%
Firstgroup PLC 1.19%
Premier Foods PLC 0.92%
Morrison (Wm) Supermarkets PLC 0.85%
Royal Mail PLC 0.50%
Absolutely everything is down, or minimal gains today, hope a reversal across the markets soon!
Ftse down almost 175 points. I think that could be your reason
Mayor of Manchester is getting more vocal on transport in Manchester
Every sector is down today inc retail
Any particular reason anyone is aware of? Or did Brian Souter sneeze.
It's not just home working though IMO. Some firms may well get staff working from home, but others,it could be argued that are locked into rents on office space for various periods of time. Landlords will still want their rents whether their tenants are using the space of not.
Plus people that use public transport will continue to do so ,for getting to work and for leisure.
Now with Gov't confirming phased return to normality, more people that are working from home would be recalled to their offices etc so more bums on bus seats.
I'm expecting a tick up in SP In the sector over the next few days in light of the latest gov't announcement.
There was an article, I think it was Thursday last week, it suggested the reason for the recent decline in the public transport sector was George Soros is betting against the sector, specifically his company has taken a £100m short position in Trainline - his argument being he doesn't believe the sector will recover due to working from home arrangements that he suspects will become the new normal. Yes, we could argue his short is against Trainline and NOT sgc, but his wider argument is against public transport recovery in general and this, apparently, is what's spooked shares in the public transport sector. Its anyone's guess if he's called it right - I myself have read big companies including the banks are vowing to put an end to homeworking soon - that they want their people back in the office. Soros doesn't always call it right but unfortunately he's a big enough force to cause ripples across the entire sector and that's apparently what we're seeing. If you Google "Soros trainline" there's various articles about it online.https://www.investorschronicle.co.uk/news/2021/04/26/george-soros-betting-against-trainline/p
..as SP seems to have bottomed a bit. And clearly oversold considering the perfectly understandable reasons. Quite confident that we will get back to £1 plus, hopefully sooner than later! Atb Rich
I don't know why they put question marks in
Ian1970. Thanks for that sorted ??
There are three tabs at the top "Regular Share Chat --- Premium Share Chat --- Filters. Click on filters and put in nickname.
How do you filter someone I can't see where you do it. Thanks in advance.
The reality is any comments on here make diddly squat difference to the SP either way. There is a filter if people annoy you.
CRI55 is full of it, when he sells his shares he puts SGC down and when he buys he is ramping at full steam. Makes for painful reading.
CHRI55, we could play BB bingo with your cliched comments ""they can't hold it back any longer", "this is a coiled spring". Just need "hold on to those golden tickets" and I've got a full house.
Disappointing overseas travel news - limited number of countries we can travel to. This will either a) Make Stagecoach rise as more people will staycation and use transport b) Make them fall by association of being a travel stock. I'm hoping the former, but it could go either way.
All it would take is for Brian Souter's daughter-in-law's cleaner's grandma to sell 100 quids worth of shares and it will drop 10%. But we can all hope.
Has sanity returned? Or will it be shortlived. Let's hope for the best. GLA.
I think it'll take a fair bit of time til pre pandemic price is reached but £1.20 ish will be here before the summer is out - from here almost a 50% rise.
With all the positive economic data coming through, I’m getting the feeling that we may be in for an upturn here...hopefully. The SP has been trashed for no good reason. So feeling positive that the crazy drop should soon be corrected. Atb Rich
