we got invited to QinetiQ and the Uni students i sponsored on the project actually got Jobs at the research establishment
so hidden gems really Bermuda ...
They showed us a 400hp electric motor that was no bigger than a lawn mower engine, used on the rig that developed Berb Tips .. (lynx)
it was fascinating at the time .........
give you an idea Nom of just how powerful these motors are ...
- Motor Shaft: 6mm
- Motor Diameter: 50.8mm
- Motor Length: 61.5mm
- Weight: 375g
- Motor KV: 520
- Wattage: 300-4500W
- Max Continuous Current: 100A
- Rm: 0.024 Ohm
- Max RPM: 30,000
- Pole Count: 10
- PWM - 32khz optimal
- Max. Efficiency: 91%
1hp = 750w ....
4500 w
Inanaco you probably do not believe this but you can check out my Linked in Profile to verify it.
When I left Uni many moons ago my first job was working for Marconi in their Electro Optical Division and most of work was MOD stuff including selling them a Helicopter operated surveillance system.

ah right, was interested in how much difference the grant made to success of the project. Well done for getting the award in the first place.
twenty years ago chap ...
complicated ... it was successful but the wrong format ... the 4 bladed drones won over ... as the props do not cause the vibration like helicopter blade lag ... props are also higher frequency which is easier to smooth out than low .. hence you hear helicopters even at altitude ... and units like Go Pro camera's .. developed
So you won an award to develop a camera fitted to a helicopter/drone - is that right? When was this? Did you manage it and if so was it commercially successful?
Inan,
Well done you!
No excuses for not understanding the environment required for R&D then :)
it started as a twin 2 stroke .. then jet .. then we went electric .. using 2 x 3.5 hp neo motors .. fit in your hand .. 48v lipo via 3 phase inverters
i also designed and manufactured the Heli ...
stabilisation of camera's fitted to a Jet turbine Helicopter with a 30kg lift capacity ... using inertial guidance and GPS the for runner to the drones u see now .
What was it for Inanaco ?
won a smart award £50,000 .. from Gov ...
Inan,
Your 11:11 is a classic example of your “if I can’t understand it, it must be wrong” attitude.
Obviously you have never run an R&D team.
Some might say it is easy to post 'useful stuff' if you are blessed with the superpower of mind reading.
Inan is forthright but posts a lot of useful stuff.
The forecast for the cricket is rain all day so possibly expect to be Inan'd
if the cap fits!!!!!
My posts are not about seeking attention ... what they do is thwart attention seekers ... kettle black
you have no evidence in your history that supports any science based discussion in which you lead
not seen any evidence of you understanding Insider trading rules and how it applies at AGM in what Directors can say
i see no evidence of you understanding NDA agreements which are put in place when signing collaboration agreements
I could go on .. as covers are on ... but getting a bit tedious ..
Inanaco,
Blimey, I really hope for you that Scancell will develop a vaccine about attention seeking eventually!
As I said, there's is life outside this bb.
