@ beatrootjuice.
Totally agree. Why kill yourself to provide what used to be a good service.
If RMG don't care, why should the real workers.
Isleworth, I'm well past caring. I'm not willing to work a 12hr day to clear my walk after it doesn't go out on my day off. It's not good though that someone pays for a 1st class recorded and it sits in an office for days.
@ Broch.
I'm definitely not seeing what you are. Certainly not in my office.
Parcels are nowhere near the levels they were a month ago. Yes, tracked are up, but it's the service we provide. Normal parcels are much lower.
SD items are still below their normal figures, but on the increase.
Letters and D2D's have not picked up at all. 1 contract this week for about 7 duties and 2 last week for about 12 duties.
I agree with the vacancies, but I imagine that this is RMG going forward, financially. I personally think it's disgraceful.
Undelivered items? Absolutely not. From about 200 items a day average, down to 80. And the person in the CSP has to go out and do half a delivery, at least.
And as for revisions? It wouldn't matter if you had 200 DP's or 2000, would it. You are all governed by your time, as stipulated in the AFG agreement. Fully endorsed by the CWU.
The only time will be to absorb new builds into the already structured framework.
All IMO only, and relevant to my office.

"""Having said that, I for one am getting more and more fed up with the shoddy practices management are now employing to save money at the expense of service. I really don't know how we are getting away with it except they are probably blaming it on covid absences , which isn't entirely true. """
As I have posted many times before, customer service is long gone. This is the PLC world now, and for any postie that cares about "getting the mail delivered", it really doesn't matter to the number crunchers.
This is the future, unfortunately.
Just a word of warning to royal mail employees on social media, i.e here. Be careful what you say about the state the business is in. By all means, like I do, don't lie to joe public when they ask 'where is my parcel, they said it would be here 3 days ago?' but be careful about telling the true state we are in in writing here. Having said that, I for one am getting more and more fed up with the shoddy practices management are now employing to save money at the expense of service. I really don't know how we are getting away with it except they are probably blaming it on covid absences , which isn't entirely true. Yes, we have unprecedented volumes of parcels, but beware, don't read into that , that we're doing well.
Broch thanks for your post and difficult times to manage and as you say will be hard to do a revision in these circumstances but equally we could be in the same situation for months to come. Lets see what CWU agree.
From the Delivery office point of view we are still seeing Xmas level of parcels. Tracked 24/48 are probably running 50% more than normal for our office. Specials are out the door, probably 3x as many as normal. Letters seem to be picking up and D2D’s are increasing. Sickness levels are around normal now, but vacancies that have occurred over the last 4 months have not been filled. They are currently covered by o/t or the duty’s are failed. Problems are now arising with undelivered items due to folk going back to work and the restricted opening times. We are running out of space!!! Usually we would store items awaiting collections in our canteen but this is currently being used to scan parcels(to comply with social distancing)
At some stage soon RM are going to have to revert to the original opening times. It would make sense anyway as our customer service staff are still on site even when the doors are locked and don’t have much to do.
With regard to revisions these are on hold until CWU and RM agree a way forward. This is from yesterday’s LTB:-
“We have been made aware since the publication of the Joint Statement that managerial proposals on revision activity are being tabled at various locations across the Delivery, Processing and Distribution functions.
For the avoidance of doubt, National talks are now due to commence which will establish the agreed detail and content of revision activity in each function, the agreed processes for re-engagement and the timelines for any agreed program of revision activity. This detail/guidance will be communicated when the talks on this element of the Joint Statement have been concluded. Representatives should therefore await further notification before engaging in local discussions relating to any revision proposals that are received.”
To be honest how you can do a meaningful revision in a delivery office in the midst of a pandemic, with huge fluctuations in mail and Xmas level parcels, combined with a ban on van sharing is beyond me. Having the disruption of a full office re-sign of duties only to do it again after a short period would be a very costly exercise in my opinion.
Rural13 that's good to hear volumes in packets and parcels are still strong and seeing normal letter and D2D volumes. It would be good if these volumes can be maintained for sometime as previously mentioned I think there will be a sustained increase in ne shopping whilst the current level of Covid restrictions remain in place.
Parcels and packets still very busy, letters and d2d small increase but normal levels for time of the year. It's quiet cos mad has disappeared, come back mad, it's gone really boring round here and don't forget your big spoon.
handyman10 yes it has gone very quiet. A number of reasons probably, awaiting next news. SP appears less volatile at the moment and the results were expected so not as many trading opportunities for some. It seems a bit more settled in terms of DK/Shorters and positions have been taken. One of the shorts Adelphi have reduced very slightly over the last few days but I expect others are waiting to see what happens next. With the deadline of end of July for news re pay deal and agreements I think we will see some positivity return as I fully expect and agreement will be reached which IMO will focus very strongly on deliver savings to fund any new/old proposals i.e SWW even Pay deals moving forward. I also think that settlement may well be a critical point for DK to show whether he is in for the longer term or he starts to sell out to make a few million. In turn I think that may also influence the shorters strategies i.e do they cash out when he is selling driving the SP down? As I mentioned last week the integration of Parcelforce is moving ahead quickly and senior managers in that area will be among the first to go. All functions are now going through their reviews and some will move quicker than others to offer up savings. Not clear how volumes are holding up and perhaps some of the frontline colleagues can offer an opinion. Good luck.
And derampers (where’s me glasses)
Typo....Or even rampers !!
@mrnation... and I could believe that as there’s so many conspiracy theories on this planet nowadays I’m ready to listen to anyone :)
@crystalBB.. like you, I have a fair load in here too, have been here since the IPO and seen nearly £6 a share right down to £1 plus, halved my holdings but still need to average down now.
Don’t want to abandon this company and have listened and read daily the informative posts, especially form the employees point of view...
So where have you all gone ??
@wolves... there used to be such a variety of posters here, unfortunately the personal snides and comments, rappers/deramoers have spoiled this board but I notice there’s a few new names appearing, keep up the dialogue, remember that a lot of sentiment can also drive a share price in the right direction, and before anyone shoots me down on that one then remember MrNations last comment :)

Interesting thoughts Scamp.
No matter which side of any fence you sit on right now, i think you/we can all agree, trouble in one form or another is coming, and coming fast. I've got a fair whack invested here, and with no dividend it's dead money to me, because it's not going back to my average this year, if next, i almost wish i'd averaged down in the 130 region, but, i think i'll get the chance to do that again sooner than i may think, just need to get enough together to have it make a dent in my average.
200 i am the first to reply on here since friday.. very quiet on here for some reason... sorry mate you may be a nice fella but what a load of b*ll*x you talk...
Boris Johnson photos wouldn't matter, Keir starmer photos maybe. Most Investors, including the big holders don't understand RMG. There are billions of letters and millions of parcels delivered every year that no one else can deliver without losing money. We are an essential service. We can't go bust. We can't all lose our jobs. The company can't be taken over and split up or all the assets sold off. The country can't survive without Royal Mail and the USO is all part of that. Government knows the state of play and can do what it takes to protect us. Change laws or impose restrictions on competition or supply funding. CWU will never recant and always prevail
Scamp, regardless of how many trillion dollars Kretinsky is worth and how many shares he holds, changing the USO is not his to call as The Postal Services Act 2011 sets out the minimum requirements the Universal Service Provider must deliver. These are statutory. They can only be altered with the consent of the UK Parliament. Perhaps he has photos of Ghislaine Maxwell with Boris Johnson and some young lady? Who knows? Lol.....
Only problem with what your saying Scamp , the union, the board or kretinsky can say what they like about the USO , the only people that can do anything about it is The Government.
Finally found time to watch the CWU update on Facebook all through in its entirety.
Undoubtedly...trouble is coming.
The CWU leadership have now accomplished what they set out to do at the onset of this long and bitter two year dispute: get themselves a seat at the table where the executive decisions will be discussed and agreed upon.
Fair play to the CWU for that...it is, after all, only what every good union should strive to do.
However, therein lies a huge fundamental obstacle.
Although the CWU leadership concedes that the company must change and now adapt to the ever challenging demands of an ever evolving deliveries market, and change quickly at that...they are still clinging to same old belief, with its archaic , outdated restraints, in the traditional obligations of the existing USO. Understandable...this is, obviously, the best way of protecting jobs.
This will not be, unfortunately, in my humble opinion, the views of the major shareholders...and one in particular I might well add.
Stuart Simpson and the Board could well be coming around to brokering some sort of muddled compromise with the Union...but, if they do, the market will see right through it. I suspect this is already exactly what the market does think...in general, least ways.
I reiterate what I have been saying repeatedly for sometime now...everything here hangs upon Kretinsky.
If he keeps on buying...it won't matter a bean what the CWU and the Board decide. It won't matter a bean because the present Board will no longer be in place!
Good luck to all long term investors here...whomever you should be. See you all in the Autumn -- cheers!
