Mpe report F/Y nos on Tuesday and will have little baring on REA accepting the Mrkts reaction to their nos will be of interest. Their 2020 results pleased the mrkt and Mpe shares closed 50 better at 506 on the day and traded over 600 a month later, while REA went from 100 to 54 impacted by the $50 fall to $611 in the cpo price and news of an ii selling out.
I note I bght 2000 REA at 49•25 can't imagine what possessed me! Mind you almost within •50 of the low for the year and since to date so got that part right. I of course thought I'd cracked this investment thing and cont to add at 52,54,55,48,55 as the stock traded 65 and in profit kidding myself there was more to come.
However my averages were spoiled by purchases back in 2019 at 133 and 159 which skewed my averages, since worsened by trimming at 56, leaving me well out of the money and in a quandary as what to do next. Jumping out of here into a high risk miner hasn't paid off as I'm 40% down on that bet in 3 weeks. Boy I can pick'em.
Waiting for either to come good looks more hopium than realism. I'll never learn, a fool and his money.....grrrr!
Coal hit a new 12 month high on Friday at $91 a tonne (not sure which type of coal this is, nor which type we have). The old 2011 report contains details of when REA last mined any, I think. They did once have plans to mine 10,000 tonnes a month. We need coal maybe to be about $120 a tonne, but it tends not to stay at that price long - I will have to ask about it at the AGM. One doesn't know if a development plan has to be approved first and if drilling is required (capex money we don't have) to work out where best to extract coal with the least amount of overburden clearing costs. The new CPO reference price for April should be announced this week. MPE has its results on Tuesday, but I don't suppose there will be any read-across from those, except maybe the average mill gate price of CPO for 2020. I hope it is $600. This year it appears to be close to $700 so far (it has been creeping up) but prices generally are expected to fall as the year goes on. That's all I know.

Pubs closed today (Friday) at 10:00 pm and the Dow tumbled 900 in sympathy. More bad news was on the way as the virus spread across borders. Gobal cases hit 786,000 and 38,000 fatalities as of end March.
Cases had been rising alarmingly spreading like wildfire across Europe and by the end of April global confirmed cases hit 3•220m and 228,200 deaths (UK 165,200 cases and 26,100 deaths). The US late to acknowledging the severity of the virus became the epicentre with 1,065,000 cases and 62,000 deaths reported.
As we now know it was going to get a whole lot worse.

No point in commenting on the sp it represents who knows what (ring me if you know). Think I'll put an X instead of the sp or better still put X56 kinda like a U Boat heading to the bottom to escape the depth charges being loosed off by investors. Anyways trading volume was just 64,162 traded, buys outpacing sells by 2•4:1 shares down 2 at X56.
Cpo closed $22 better on the session but $11 down on the week the first time for months. Ytd cpo trades at $1,117 up $139 (14%) and averages $1023 v last years $718 up (42%). Crude slipped over $4 (7%) on the week mainly over fears of poor summer demand in the US and more lockdowns in Europe. Crude has been one of the best performing commodities up 24% ytd.
The KLPI closed 39 up on the week but still c.2% down ytd and 300 off its 52 high. Plantation stocks as in the UK are unloved and unwanted. Other London palms barely broke a sweat, Mpe led the up moves putting on 15 to 615 and as with Anglo & Dkl considerably higher than on TWTDTW a year ago where X56 lies holed at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
On week 11.

A 3rd outbreak of the virus has hit parts of Italy and is spreading in Europe. This could delay our April/May reopening and holiday plans for Italy look scuppered...again!
Thanx Eng, great game of Rugby for a change! Mathematically others can still deny us the Championship but lots have to go right for France and Scotland to win from here. For Scotland its a must win at home against Ireland tonight.
