The objectives of the WNB-1 appraisal well are:
· To evaluate the extent of the hydrocarbon accumulations found in the Kirkham Abbey formation by the WNA-2 well in June 2019.
· To test the reservoir properties of the deeper Cadeby formation which, if found to be hydrocarbon bearing, could add significantly to the value of the West Newton field.
I'm sure they would only hire the wireline logging unit if they had something of significance relating to hydrocarbons to look at - honestly GP, I can't see them wanting it to work out how much cement was needed! Pretty expensive way of doing some basic maths imo.
Hopefully an RNS soon. They MUST SURELY know something by now because of the succession of trips in and out and logging, but will they tell us?
Mrs Oza is no fool ;-)
I'm with you and Mrs Oza on the KA. I wonder what she thinks about the Cadeby! We will all soon know, I hope.
I have been a here a fair old time. From a personal point of view. I have never put much faith in anything realistic coming from Cadeby. I’m expecting the usual shenanigans from the mm’s if nothing materialises, even though it’s not priced in.
A massive bonus if it is successful.
But I am extremely bullish on KA.
And I think Mrs Oza is too.
Keep the faith.
Thank you GP. Your contribution IS appreciated. As is yours Ruby. Keeping it all honest.
In the round..
Hello Guys. My mate certainly doesn't work for Rathlin, but he has a lot of geological and other experience of exploration in Yorkshire. His take on what's going on at the moment was that we are most likely about to set the 9 5/8” casing at the top of the Zechstein section, probably in the Roxby Formation, which consists of mudstone and / or shale in this part of the world. Also, It wouldn't be out of the question for some logging to take place first at this depth. Having probably just drilled through about 500 metres of Sherwood Sandstone, which he said can be hard going, Rathlin will want to get information about the hole size / volume so they can determine how much cement must be pumped to get a reliable casing job. He suggested that currently they would probably be at about 1,500 to 1,600 metres, but not to forget it could be a deviated well. Two wells were originally planned for the B site, but only one of them is likely be a vertical appraisal well. The other will presumably be deviated, but which one, he wasn't sure. He thought B-1 was quite likely to be deviated in order to maximise Rathlin's geological information away from the A site as soon as possible.
Such a massive massive bell end ! Would that be in the right parish? Yep, I think it would.
I have never come across such a total **** on all the BB’s I have been on.
I know he loves the attention, but it just has to be said. Incredible.
Percy, nice to see you looking after yourself when you’re on you’re own.
artyhe.....soon will be, nice Italian dish and a bottle or two of their finest. Love Italian food, then back home for a dram or two of either a single Scotch malt or maybe a Japanese Hakushu malt.
No artyth
Percy, is the medication working?
Manwell,... I am interested in some of the mechanics of oil production, although in no way anything other than a novice.
Would I be in the right 'parish' if I believe that the cost of the casing and couplers alone will possible be excess of £100,000?
Thank you
Mind you, my mate isn't Rathlin's geologist. lol
Manwell, I think they were expecting to encounter KA more shallow than WNA-2. If I understand correctly, they are expecting the Cadeby to be a reef, which would be nearer to the surface.
Thanks Manwell. I can see you scratching your head !! :-)
Just doesn’t add up BH, going by timings has to be 9 5/8” but doesn’t make sense why logging truck there as KA deeper. Only thing I can think of is that they wanted to log something in the Sherwood Sandstone or the Roxby formations. As these are within that section TD of 1533m. (Going by the schematic info on Twitter)
Translate pls. Are you guys suggesting they might be in KA already?
Wireline truck on site?
From the pic can also tell that it’s Down Hole Products float equipment & centralisers (as purple). The casing grade is L80 as red couplings. Reviewing timings it has to be 9 5/8” IMO.
Found it. Goo ho. Will they let us know a little taster on Monday?? I hope so. 'Similar at this stage to WNA-2' would be nice.
Production casing? Where have you seen it Manwell?
New picture on Twitter of casing laid out on racks (can’t tell which size thou) and a Weatherford Wireline logging truck rigged up.
Thanks Manwell. It would be nice if those investors who were previously showing drone footage would share what they're getting now. All we've got is swampy's footage, which they will of course try to spin to look negative. However, there are things they can't hide with their live feed...which we can all try to analyse, and where your interpretation is so valuable to those who haven't had hands-on experience of drilling.
It’s possible as formation there isn’t that hard, but would need to sustain just under 3m/hr. still not seen any evidence of casing run, we can’t see the Wireline truck that’s on site. So we are second guessing at the moment with regards to depth. They may have only had enough drillpipe in the carousel to reach section TD rather than well TD.
They seem to have used up all the drill pipe a couple of days ago Manwell. They've tripped in and out a couple of times since then which I assumed was to take cores. Could they drill 70m per day?
