"it’s a lot easier to hold on the way down than on the way up."
In general, I would say the opposite is true. When the value of your Pension/ISA/Share Portfolio is rising steadily, it's easy to sit back and enjoy the ride. When values start falling however, various levels of discomfort set in, from "disappointed" to "panic". I believe in small cap AIM stocks, the MMs use this crowd mentality to slightly manipulate the market for their own gains , as we see on an almost daily basis.
As Warren Buffet proclaimed "be fearful when others are greedy and be greedy when others are fearful". This contrarian approach has served him well over decades. Buy or sell a stock according to your own criteria. Otherwise stick to more mainstream investments and follow another old adage, "buy quality companies and hold for the long-term".
Really interesting point and I agree - it’s a lot easier to hold on the way down than on the way up.
That’s why for me personally I’m targeting a sell point not at a particular SP but at a stage in the companies growth cycle - as that’s the only way I can be semi-objective about it. I’m planning to hold for about 1 year following commercialisation (should we get there of course!) as that’s my stab in the dark for when would be the best time to realise any gains. Of course that can change to be shorter or later depending on how things play out, but for now that’s my strategy.
I would say it would be to hold depending on what potential is on the menu. Currently we have the three main areas of focus and also the bioMSAR testing which could spring us any surprise from any direction if the publicity and marketing is right. Should these projects go commercial then obviously share price goes up but then what’s next, if we get snowball effect then why sell? Share price will keep rising until maybe the company is bought out. Should development potential dry up or stagnate maybe people will de risk or even sell up for hopefully and very large profit years down this line.
If all goes well this would or could be life changing for many as investors, but also for companies that are involved , the environment , which helps us all down the line.
For me obviously I would love the snowball effect next year, if we ever do reach 50p then yes I would have to sell maybe 20%. But after all this time it’s boom or bust for me this year at least. But yes nice thoughts to have with the potential on the plate at the moment!
Buying in at single figures should give the holder excellent returns, especially if they hold all the way up, assuming we do go all the way up.
But not everyone will hold all the way, regardless what they say on bulletin boards. Many will derisk and sell a portion, which makes sense. How many will actually hold all they currently have till we reach what we’re capable of? Very few if any, perhaps some of the large LTHs which is why no matter what news we get there will always be sellers at every stage of progress.
I would like to say I’d hold all the way but tbh I don’t know. In some ways it’s easier holding on the way down than picking a sell point on the way up. Nice dilemma to have though, here’s hoping.
Good call, WongaFC
That's the feeling I'm getting in my bones Elir, as the story spreads and potential discovered, more buyers become interested or existing SH want to top-up. While the seller numbers appear to be drying up somewhat, (and why not???). Interesting times....
Looks like market makers runnin out of stock, bid offers just updated
I see signs of a good push up , on very little more volume
I would hope any positive update and details on where the fuel is going to be produced for Morocco and the MSC trial would give us more than a base line 4p. I hopefully want a penny a month on average increase until the juicy stuff gets close and those hopeful commercial contracts are on the immediate horizon :)
Expect to see the bid price breaching 4p today.
Thanks for clarifying that for me TechyRob, much appreciated :)
No news on the restart but I expect it is all underway. In Tomco’s RNS on 1st April they said the FEED is 6 weeks away from completion ie 13th May 2021. The production data from the POSP is key for the FEED (as they want the best quality product to form a business case for the 10k BPD plant they want to build off the back of this study).
From my reading of the RNS’ Tomco seem to have everything in hand and were confident of having the POSP up to scratch “shortly after Easter”. So I imagine minor tweaks and processing refinement has taken place these last couple of weeks. All being well they should now (hopefully) be in a position to use optimised data from their POSP production to inform their FEED which is due in under a month, whilst simultaneously producing optimised samples that can be sent to us here at QFI. So we could hear anything at any time I reckon.
Taken from Tomco RNS on 1st April;
“The additional equipment required to address the aforementioned issues, is now on site and being installed with completion expected shortly after Easter. Greenfield believes that this will then enable the POSP to produce at higher rates of production than achieved to date, particularly during periods of cold weather, and that the oil produced by the POSP will be of a higher overall quality”
“In light of these requisite enhancements to the POSP and the subsequent input of the resulting operational data into the FEED study, it is now anticipated that the FEED will take approximately a further six weeks to be completed.”
Do we have any news regarding the POSP having restarted from TomCo or Petroteq?
Many thanks,
Fitzy, it will be some point hopefully within the next couple of weeks hopefully. I’d expect QFI would alert us to the arrivals of the samples as they alerted us to the delay in receiving them.
As per QFI RNS on 1st April;
“ It is expected that the enhanced POSP will restart after Easter, and that oil samples extracted from ore of the Potential Site will then be taken, assayed, and then shipped in April to the UK, to enable the Company to complete the necessary lab and pilot testing at the Quadrise Research Facility ("QRF") as planned. As previously noted, we anticipate being able to complete the MSAR® tests at QRF within three weeks of samples being received.”
Just like during the war Americans always arrive late after the work is complete
Question,,, do we think that the oil samples would have left Utah yet ?
Oops, cancel that, back to square 1
Another step up for Petroteq today
Agreed always happened at 4-46 lol
Agreed, just having a modicum of fun on a slow day
The sp means nothing it’s the signed deal that really matters end of
Taking bets on it being red all day then blue right at the end.....
