My thoughts entirely ...imo the Govt need tests now and the UK-RTC are not up to the capacity required now so the Govt go elsewhere with Interim short term contracts until UK-RTC (and Mologic) are ready to deliver in the needed volumes....even then will that be enough?
"Why the Government have gone down this route when we have home grown products is not particularly clear to me."
We don't have sufficient capacity for PCR testing and there's a shortage of both testing kits and reagents. The government are procuring where they can.
It would have been more sensible for the government to have sourced these through a more established company (who could have sourced them I'm sure) - it's daft to order via a company with no established record. I've flagged it to Jo Maugham at the GLP in case they're interested in taking a look.
This order won't impact us though...
In fairness, Dante look like quite an impressive set up. Why the Government have gone down this route when we have home grown products is not particularly clear to me.
UK government has a decent track record of procuring equipment from unvalidated and incompetent companies, I.e there’s still cargo containers of PPE still sitting in an airport hanger which costs taxpayers millions and ended up not being fit for purpose. This is just another one of those. I really wonder what the agenda is and which MP has some affiliation with these companies. Pretty sure they are looking after their own!
Possibly. Benny hill.
Hopefully good times lie ahead for all off us.
Time for bed me thinks.
