Many Thx WW - completely agree. On a lighter note - in conversation with stranger down pub - don't drink Vimto myself - but been told that the new recipes introduced to avoid sugar tax do not taste as good as the old, and that the artificial sweeteners that replace the sugar (polyols?) are needed in such high concentrations that they result in drinkers visiting the toilet more often, and this is the real reason (rather than consuming sugar) that the recipes help prevent obesity ! You could not make it up.
Just brought it forward, given issue with Yemen shipment. It will count as a "profit warning". Likely won't hear anything else until results posted. IMHO, don't think that this is a serious setback for the business as a whole, however I do think that the Market is reconsidering NICL status as a "growth" stock.
According to market diary, should there not be a TA today ? or was it replaced by December's RNS ?
1.50 very good position to be in............but far too volatile atm for me to jump onboard. great longterm investment ,imo , but finding the right entry level is eluding me at present....and yes, sugar tax issues must be sorted by now. gla
No don't think it was either, and has come back a bit since the initial shock. However it is on a reasonably high PE ratio and with no profit increase this year and low single digit next year, I think it was just adjusting for lower short term growth expectations. Longer term it is a cash generating machine, ever since outsourcing the manufacturing, and has been around a very long time. I bought around 20 years ago at about £1.50, and this seems more a minor blip than anything more serious. I think they have also largely countered the sugar tax implications as well.
Didn't think that the "profit warning" was that bad. UK and Africa growing strongly, just Yemen and possibly Saudi slowing. Looking at what goes to Middle East, and potential slow down set against growth elsewhere i am a little surprise they have guided to low single digit next year. Unless something else afoot. Maybe planned increase in Marketing expenses, or acquisition ? Either way, they reassured on continued progressive dividend policy so more shares at this price if your are in the DRIP, or higher % return if not.
